Portsmouth vs Sheffield United Prediction: Ebou-king on the cards?

Portsmouth couldn’t follow up their impressive victory over West Brom with any points at Preston, but John Mousinho’s men were unfortunate to lose that game 1-0. Sheffield United meanwhile were overwhelmed by probably champions Middlesbrough on Monday night and need to start winning games to close the gap on the play-offs.

Team News
Mousinho counted the cost of the walking wounded at Preston as his side lost 1-0 with 10 senior players out, including star man Josh Murphy. Thomas Waddingham and Harvey Blair could return to the matchday squad on Saturday to ease his woes, while key number nine Colby Bishop is hoping to make his return here.
Sheffield United will be without the suspended Joe Rothwell after his red card against Boro, while Kalvin Phillips could be offered a start to strengthen that midfield area. Gustavo Hamer, Callum O’Hare and Andre Brooks are likely to play behind Patrick Bamford once again as the Blades look for an important away win.
Portsmouth vs Sheffield United Predicted Lineups
- Portsmouth - Schmid; Devlin, Poole, Ogilvie, Swanson; Adams, Pack; Segecic, Chaplin, Alli; Brown
- Sheff Utd - Cooper; Seriki, Tanganga, Bindon, Burrows; Phillips, Peck; Brooks, O’Hare, Hamer; Bamford
Portsmouth vs Sheffield United Odds
Portsmouth are 11/5 to win this game, and Sheffield United are the 5/4 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 44%. A draw is 23/10, over 2.5 goals is 1/1 and BTTS is 8/11.
If you want goals, Bamford is the favourite to score first at 9/2, while Bishop is the favourite from a Pompey perspective at 5/1.
Portsmouth vs Sheffield United Stats
- Both teams have scored in the last four Sheff Utd games
- Ebou Adams has eight yellows already this season
BTTS @ 8/11
I can see goals going in at both ends in this one, given Sheffield United have been quite the entertainers lately. Both teams have scored in their last four outings, and their attacking talent is comparable with some of the finest teams in the division.
Hamer is in a fine run of form, supplying five assists in his last four games, while now Bamford is back they should pose a threat up top. The pair combined against Boro and should have even more joy here - while Pompey have only seen both teams score in two of their last four games, but should be able to muster up a goal here having scored three against West Brom in their last home fixture.

Ebou Adams to get booked @ 9/4
Adams has been excellent since his move from Derby to Portsmouth, scoring twice, but I think he could have more of an impact in terms of his destructiveness, which we saw at Derby. He has been booked a staggering eight times already this season and I think he will need to be combative against this strong Sheffield United midfield.
As a result, I quite like the idea of him to get booked at 9/4, so will put that forward as my second selection.
