Ruben Selles has made a cracking start to life at Hull City, and a 1-0 away win at Millwall last time out saw them climb out of the relegation zone. They will hope to look upwards now as they welcome a QPR outfit who were bottom of the table at the start of the campaign, but are now knocking on the door of the play-offs.

Below you can find my Hull City vs QPR predictions as the two teams meet at the MKM Stadium, with kick-off at 19:45 on Tuesday night. This one will be shown Sky Sports+ as these two tussle it out for a victory.

Team News

Hull have agreed a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Eliot Matazo, but that deal won’t be done in time for this game. In terms of injuries, Dogukan Sinik, Mohamed Belloumi, Liam Millar and Kasey Palmer are all out for the hosts, but Selles has dealt with their absences well.

Lewie Coyle had to come off with a nasty gash to his ankle in the first half an hour and he is unlikely to recover for this game, so Cody Drameh is set to start here. After an impressive performance at the weekend the rest of the back four is likely to remain unchanged, with Finley Burns and Alfie Jones flanked by Sean McLoughlin on the left-hand side.

Joe Gelhardt could come into the front three after coming off the bench at the Den, with Mason Burstow at risk of losing his spot in the starting XI. Steven Alzate starred in midfield, but new arrival Matt Crooks is also pushing for a start.

Meanwhile, Marti Cifuentes has seen his side rocket up the league in recent weeks but he will have to cope without Liam Morrison and Steve Cook at the back. Ronnie Edwards should continue at centre-back having done well against Plymouth, while Jake Clarke-Salter is also trying to force his way back into the starting XI.

Karamoko Dembele and Lucas Andersen are also out so Jonathan Varane and Sam Field should continue their midfield partnership, while Zan Celar’s hamstring issue means Michael Frey is likely to continue leading the line.

Hull City vs QPR Odds

Hull have the worst home record in the division, having only picked up 12 points to date, but they are 11/10 to win this game after the arrival of Selles. QPR meanwhile have won four of their last six and are 23/10 to get the victory.

A draw can be backed at 21/10 while over 2.5 goals is 6/5 having come in during 41% of QPR fixtures this term. BTTS is 10/11 while Chris Bedia is the favourite to open the scoring at 11/2.

QPR to win @ 23/10

In truth, I wasn’t quite sure who to plump for in this fixture but I will go for the away side due to the odds on offer. I’ve been impressed with Selles so far and think he will get Hull away from danger, but they are coming up against a QPR outfit that is bang in form and now find themselves on the edge of the play-offs.

This game may not have jumped out as one to watch a couple of months ago, but now we see two upwardly mobile teams clash with key points on offer. The R’s have won four of their last six and sit third in the form table, winning a key game at Plymouth last time out. Cifuentes is reaping the rewards of the board sticking with him, and now there looks to be no stopping them. I like Hull a lot right now but they've got the worst home record in the division, and QPR offer better value heading into this one.

Jimmy Dunne to score anytime @ 10/1

I’m going for a slightly left-field selection when looking at goalscorers for this match. I don’t think this game will be packed full of goals as I believe both teams have improved defensively in the last month. QPR kept a clean sheet last time out on the road, as did Hull as they both secured impressive 1-0 successes.

I also believe set pieces could be key for QPR to unlock the Tigers, and as a result I think Jimmy Dunne offers great value. He’s already scored four goals for the R’s this term and has shone at right-back in recent weeks, but has been a key threat in the air. What catches my eye is the fact that he has scored three goals in his last nine, as QPR have turned their form around.

Whether he operates in the middle or on the right, he can provide a goal threat and I believe he could take advantage from a free-kick or a corner, and land us a big winner.
