Coventry vs Ipswich Prediction: Town to take a point at leaders

A major clash at the top of the table takes place on Monday evening (18:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event) as runaway Championship leaders Coventry City play host to Ipswich Town.

Coventry are 11/8 favourites to continue their unbeaten run at home. Ipswich are 2/1 to secure an away victory and it's 23/10 the draw.

It is 2/7 for their to be more than 1.5 goals in the contest and 5/2 for it to be under that mark.

Team News

No injuries have been reported for either side following their matches on Boxing Day and Coventry’s main concern will be whether centre-back Bobby Thomas is fit to feature.

He was one of the squad members who caught the flu bug which has been troubling the Sky Blues in the last few weeks, while he is also nursing a calf injury and is a doubt for Monday.

Otherwise the line-up is likely to be the same as it was against Swansea, with the one question whether it will be Ellis Simms or Haji Wright who starts up front.

Ipswich remain without George Hirst, who has a groin issue, and also don't have Sammie Szmodics and Wes Burns, but no fresh injuries have been reported from their goalless draw with Millwall.

With 92 goals between these two sides this season, there is a chance we could be in for a treat with two freescoring teams. More likely, with what's at stake, this will be a cagey affair and a draw is where the value lies.

Ipswich put three past Coventry at Portman Road last month, while the Sky Blues came out on top in a six-goal thriller at Middlesbrough before that.

However, goals have dried up more recently for the home side, who have scored just four in their last five games.

Ipswich have not been as potent away from home, with just two points from their last four on their recent travels and, despite that recent success over City, they won't want to be losing any more ground to the league leaders and this could be a low-scoring game.

Ephron Mason-Clark to score anytime @ 11/4

Coventry certainly haven't been at their best in recent matches following a scintillating November, when they couldn't stop scoring.

One man who has kept his shooting boots on through Christmas has been City's left winger Ephron Mason-Clark.

Since Frank Lampard's arrival, Mason-Clark has flourished. He scored seven goals last season and is just one away from matching that total this term, while all of City's strikes in their last three matches have come from his boot.

He also got the winner in the 1-0 win away to Stoke and scored in the play-off semi-final against Sunderland last term.

He's a player who seems to thrive in tight matches and comes into this encounter as a man in form.
