Coventry vs Derby Prediction: Can Rams halt Cov’s title charge?

Coventry City are now just a handful of wins away from ending their 25-year absence from the Premier League. Frank Lampard’s men have a nine-point lead on second-place Middlesbrough heading into the Easter weekend and will be keen to get over the line as soon as possible.
Their next test will be a tough one, as play-off chasing Derby County visit the CBS Arena (20:00 BST, Sky Sports Main Event). Check out my Coventry vs Derby predictions down below.

Team News
Coventry boss Frank Lampard may be unable to start Ephron Mason-Clark and Joel Latibeaudiere as both played a significant role in Jamaica’s failure to qualify for the World Cup late on Tuesday night.
Frank Onyeka played for Nigeria but should be okay to feature, while Jay Dasilva came through his Welsh matches unscathed. Haji Wright and Jack Rudoni will have to be assessed after recent injuries forced them to miss out prior to the international break.
Derby will be without Sammie Szmodics after the serious head injury he suffered with the Republic of Ireland, while Patrick Agyemang played for the United States early on Wednesday morning so this game may come too close for him to start.
If that is the case, Carlton Morris will lead the line, while Bobby Clark is sure to offer a threat in midfield.
Coventry vs Derby Predicted Lineups
- Coventry - Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Kitching, Dasilva; Onyeka, Grimes; Sakamoto, Thomas-Asante, Esse; Simms

Coventry are 3/5 to win this game, giving the Sky Blues an implied win probability of 63%. Derby are the 9/2 underdogs, while a draw can be backed at 3/1.

Coventry vs Derby Stats
- Coventry have won seven of their last eight games
- Derby have won four of their last five
- Bobby Clarke has been booked in three of his last five apps
Draw and BTTS @ 4/1
Coventry are the obvious favourites to win this game given they are top of the league, but Derby come into this clash in excellent form, having won four of their last five games. They are pushing closer towards the top six and John Eustace is a fantastic manager - while Coventry may miss the likes of Mason-Clark, should the winger be rested.
I think a draw is a decent price, while we have to expect both teams to score in what should be an entertaining encounter.

Bobby Clark to be booked @ 12/5
Clark has played everywhere in midfield for Derby this season but Eustace has settled on playing him slightly deeper in midfield - with Szmodics in the number 10 role. Despite Szmodics’ absence, Clark may continue in a central midfield role given the strength of the opposition.
He’s proven himself to be a top talent this season, but he’s also now picked up seven yellow cards. Three of those have come in the last five matches when he’s been slightly more defensive and up against this dominant Coventry midfield, I think he’s a great price to pick up another card.
