Blackburn Rovers vs Leeds United Prediction: Away win for title-chasing Leeds?

Blackburn Rovers got a terrific result in midweek as they went to Middlesbrough and secured an impressive 1-0 victory. That result puts them just two points off the play-offs and John Eustace is proving himself to be an extremely capable manager at this level once again. On Saturday (13:30), they host Leeds United at Ewood Park, looking to cause another shock in the second tier.

Team News
Dominic Hyam will be on a high after his winner in midweek, and he will partner Danny Batth once again at the heart of the Rovers defence. In fact, John Eustace may be able to name an unchanged team as he continues with the squad that is available to him.
Hayden Carter remains out along with Scott Wharton, while Arnor Sigurdsson has a thigh issue that is set to rule him out until mid-December. Yuki Ohashi is set to lead the line once more, while getting the best out of Todd Cantwell has been an excellent formula for success so far this season.
He could start in the number 10 role, flanked by Tyrhys Dolan and Ryan Hedges, with both wide men hoping to cause problems for this Leeds defence. Lewis Travis and Sondre Tronstad will continue their blossoming partnership in the centre of midfield.
For Leeds, the injury list remains the same. Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Largie Ramazani are the major absentees but Daniel Farke has received a boost as Junior Firpo returns from his three-match suspension. However, his place at left-back is not secure as Sam Byram scored the opener against Luton Town and could retain his spot.
An option could be to switch the versatile Byram to the right in place on Jayden Bogle, which would allow Firpo to play on the left-hand side of the defence. Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell will continue in midfield, while it looks as though Joel Piroe has now permanently reclaimed the number nine position from Mateo Joseph, as the former Swansea striker found the net again against the Hatters.
Blackburn Rovers vs Leeds United Odds
Blackburn are 100/30 to win this game, while Leeds are available at 4/5. That gives the away side an implied win probability of 55%, while a draw can be backed at 11/4. Over 2.5 goals is 10/11, BTTS is 4/5 and Piroe is the favourite to score first at 11/2.
Leeds United to win @ 4/5
Leeds United are currently in prime position to win the Championship, and for me they are well on their way to the title. A 3-0 win over Luton at Elland Road just added to their credentials, and it feels like they are just impossible to get points off when playing at home.
On the road, Leeds have won three, drawn four and lost one, but I still think they are the top team in the division. Although I’ve been massively impressed with Blackburn this term, I think we have to back the away side given their abundance of quality. Even with key injuries, they have been dominant, and I can’t see this changing at Ewood Park.

Joel Piroe to score anytime @ 15/8
With seven goals in 17 league games so far, Piroe is trucking along quite nicely for Leeds this term. He’s clearly one of the most talented finishers in the league and the best at the club in front of goal, but Farke preferred Joseph’s movement and energy up front at the start of the season.
Interestingly, he has only scored one goal away from home so far, and that came against Cardiff in mid-September, and that’s something that the manager will have to correct if they are to pick up points. However, given Leeds’ quality and attacking talent, I think he will be able to find the net here and end that drought on the road.
