Birmingham vs West Brom Prediction: Blues to shut the Albion out

Birmingham City are on their longest unbeaten run of the season in the Championship - six games without defeat. After taking down Leicester City on home soil on Saturday, the Blues now look to defeat West Bromwich Albion at St. Andrew's on Tuesday (20:00 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event).
The Baggies have lost five of their past seven outings in the second tier as they sit just one point above the relegation zone. Read on for my Birmingham vs West Brom predictions, including the latest match odds and team news.

Team News
Ethan Laird (hamstring) remains absent for Birmingham due to injury. Demarai Gray has been out for six weeks with a calf issue but he is set to return to the squad this soon, but Tuesday may come too soon for the winger.
Lee Buchanan is back in light training after a year out with a knee injury. Phil Neumann picked up a problem at the weekend and had to be substituted, so we may see Jonathan Panzo handed his debut in defence against West Brom.
There is also a chance for Bright Osayi-Samuel to receive his first start since December 1 as Chris Davies may contemplate rotating his team ahead of their FA Cup fourth round clash with Leeds United on Sunday.
August Priske may be in line for his first start after his January transfer from Djurgardens.
Albion boss Eric Ramsay could restore Aune Heggebo and Mikey Johnston to the XI, potentially at the expense of Daryl Dike and Jed Wallace.
Chris Mepham is a doubt to feature after picking up an injury in the 0-0 draw with Stoke City on Saturday. George Cameron and Karlan Grant are also out with hamstring issues, while former Blues captain Krystian Bielik will miss the visit to his old stomping ground with a shoulder problem.
Birmingham vs West Brom Predicted Lineups
- Birmingham: Beadle; Osayi-Samuel, Klarer, Panzo, Wagner; Solis, Paik; Roberts, Ducksch, Osman; Priske
- West Brom: O'Leary, Gilchrist, Phillips, Taylor, Styles; Johnston, Molumby, Mowatt, Jimoh-Aloba; Price, Heggebo
Birmingham are 10/11 (implied probability of 52.4%) to emerge victorious here with three wins from their last four league matches.
The Blues salvaged a draw at The Hawthorns when the two sides met back in November, and the stalemate is priced at 12/5.
West Brom are 16/5 to win their first fixture in seven attempts.
Birmingham vs West Brom Stats
- Birmingham have won 4 of the past 6 H2H contests
- West Brom have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 matches
- Marvin Ducksch scored Birmingham's equaliser at The Hawthorns
To Win To Nil - Birmingham @ 9/5
Birmingham have a huge incentive to win on Tuesday as they would climb into the play-off places with three points. The Blues have had a troublesome start to the season but their glaring issues within the squad look to have been addressed in the winter transfer window.
Six new faces have arrived at the club and the team looks transformed. The hosts are six games unbeaten in the second tier, something they have not experienced upon their return to the Championship in the summer.
Birmingham have a strong home record. Hull City are the only team to win at St. Andrew's this season in the league and after defeating a struggling Leicester outfit on Saturday, Brum now turn to the wailing Baggies.
Albion are another club who look to be a mess both on and off the pitch, and this can play right into Birmingham's hands. Seeing as West Brom have failed to score in three of their last four appearances in the Championship, I fancy Birmingham to win to nil - which has been the case in seven of their 12 victories.

Anytime Goalscorer - Marvin Ducksch @ 8/5
After a slow start to his Birmingham career following a summer transfer from Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, Marvin Ducksch now looks more than settled in royal blue.
The German attacker has been a pivotal figure for his team since the turn of the year, with four goals and two assists in six appearances. The 31-year-old has a goal contribution in all but one of those games, so he should be full of confidence ahead of facing this struggling West Brom side.
Ducksch was also on the scoresheet when they last met at The Hawthorns, with a sublime glancing header from a Tommy Doyle free-kick.
