Benfica vs Real Madrid Prediction: Kylian to keep up top scoring form

Benfica are out and Real Madrid very much in when it comes to the CL but there are still points and prize money to play for when they kick-off in Lisbon at 20:00; the match is live on Discovery+.
Jamie Pacheco thinks Real can win while conceding in the process, while that man Kylian Mbappe has what it takes to grab a couple of goals by himself at a decent price. Let's check out his Benfica vs Real Madrid Predictions...

Benfica vs Real Madrid Preview:
Benfica
Benfica's race is run in this competition.
Two wins from seven matches, the other five being defeats, is a pretty poor return for a side with Benfica's pedigree in this competition, and whereas the first loss was not on José Mourinho's watch, the other four were.
They were in with an outside chance of still making the playoffs if they had got a result at Juventus last week but they didn't, going down 2-0.
At least their exit from this competition to go with being eliminated from both domestic Cups means they can focus 100% on the league. Not that they're doing particularly well in at one, either, sitting in third with little chance of improving on that position.
Alexander Bah and Richard Rios miss out; Frederik Aursnes, who can play in just about any position on the pitch, should get a game in the heart of midfield in place of Rios.
Real Madrid
They're (for argument's sake) 99% sure of a Top 8 finish in a competition they love like no other. They've won five and lost two.
Interim (or not) manager Alvaro Arbeloa has started pretty well and they secured a good 2-0 win at the weekend at Villarreal.
Kylian Mbappe is liking life under Arbeloa; he can't stop scoring.
Alexander Trent-Arnold, not so much. He's only been there a few months, but there's already talk of a summer exit. But he's injured for this one anyway, as are key defenders Antonio Rüdiger and Eder Militao.
Benfica vs Real Madrid Predicted Lineups
- Benfica: Trubin, Dahl, Dedic, Otamendi, Araujo, Sudakov, Barreiro, Aursnes, Pavlidis, Prestianni. Schjelderlup.
- Real Madrid: Courtois, Camavinga, Huijsen, Ascensio, Valverde, Bellingham, Tchouameni, Guler, Vinicius, Mastantuono, Mbappe.
Match Odds:
Benfica are 10/3, with the draw 3/1 and Real 4/6.
I was pretty amazed to find out that these two haven't played each other in an official competition since 1965! So the relevance of Benfica's 5-1 win over them that year is of pretty limited relevance.
Stating the obvious here but Real are a considerably better side in general and though tey were struggling a bit by their high standards under Xabi Alonso, they've looked a better side of late under Arbeloa.
But we can turn the 4/6 into a far bigger 9/5 by including the caveat that Benfica get a goal in the process. Cynics may argue that Real are stronger without TAA in the side anyway, or that he wouldn't play even if he was fit, but of greater significance are the absences of Rudiger and Militao in the heart of their defence.
Besides, Real have a habit of winning games in the CL while conceding, with wins over Marseille (2-1), Olympiakos (4-2), and Monaco just last week (2-1) cases in point.
So we'll take the 9/5 on Real to win with both teams scoring.

Benfica vs Real Madrid Stats
- Kylian Mbappe has averaged 1.87 goals/90 minutes in the Champions League so far this season
- Vini Jr is joint-top of the assist standings with four, teammate Arda Güler is just one behind.
- Kylian Mbappe has taken 6.11 shots per 90 minutes.
Multi-Scorers
Our mate Vangelis Pavlidis is 8/5 to score anytime and that's not a bad price on a player with 20 goals this season, including two at the weekend; he did miss a penalty at Juve last week, though. But then again, he's their most likely scorer, so if Benfica don't score at all, we'd lose on both bets, which I don't want to happen.
So I prefer the 18/5 that Mbappe gets two in the match. He's done so in both of his last two matches and has scored two or more on 11 occasions this season. He's on penalties, of course, and if a somewhat demotivated Benfica aren't on the ball, I fancy him to capitalise.
