Atalanta’s Champions League hopes are teetering as they welcome Borussia Dortmund to Bergamo on Wednesday, February 25 (20:00GMT, TNT Sports). The Bundesliga side lead 2-0 from the first leg and come to Italy with one foot in the last-16.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is back in contention. The Brazil international sat out the weekend’s 2-1 win over Napoli and is expected to return from a muscle problem here.

Manager Raffaele Palladino will have to deal with familiar problems in attack. Chief creative force Charles De Ketelaere is sidelined following surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Striker Giacomo Raspadori is out with a hamstring injury.

Dortmund can’t call upon ex-Liverpool man Emre Can. The 32-year-old misses out with a recurring adductor problem.

The defensive woes continue for head coach Niko Kovac. Germany international Niklas Sule (thigh) and Italian starlet Filippo Mane (muscle) are sidelined.

Dortmund are favourites to win the overall tie at 1/6 due to that handy 2-0 lead they earned at Signal Iduna Park. Atalanta are 7/2 to turn the two legs around.

Serhou Guirassy to score anytime @ 11/8

The Guinea international was prolific at Rennes and Stuttgart before Dortmund brought him to the club in 2024. Goals have followed, with Guirassy racking up 54 strikes in 84 games for the club.

The Champions League has been a happy hunting ground for the 29-year-old this term. Guirassy has netted four goals in the competition already. 

Guirassy had registered in Dortmund’s last three league games before Saturday’s 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig. This is a man bang in form in a match where Dortmund will look to quieten the crowd with a hope-sapping goal. I reckon Guirassy pops up with it.

Draw or Borussia Dortmund and under 2.5 goals @ 9/4

Dortmund could go through with a 1-0 defeat. But the Bundesliga side will be keenly aware of the dangers of shutting up shop away from home. 

Atalanta will come at them, make no mistake. That is why the draw in this bet is a nice bit of insurance. But I expect a professional job from Dortmund on the night. Kovac prizes defensive discipline as much as high-octane goalscoring. This match will not slip too far away from the German side.
