Burton albion vs crawley town predictions betting tips efl league 1 tuesday november 5 2024

Two of League 1's bottom three will meet at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+), as managerless Burton Albion go in search of their first league victory of the season against fellow strugglers Crawley Town.

Below is my Burton Albion vs Crawley Town prediction, complete with team news and match odds.

Burton Albion vs Crawley Town Betting Tips

  • Draw No Bet - Burton Albion @ 4/7
  • Bet Builder - Danilo Orsi (BUR) Anytime Goalscorer & Under 2.5 Total Goals @ 7/1

The rock-bottom Brewers are without a win in 12 league matches this season, a run that contributed to manager Mark Robinson losing his job.

Tom Hounsell will once again be in interim charge for this game and he did lead his side to a narrow victory over non-league Scarborough Athletic in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday, a result that snapped an eight-game losing streak in all competitions.

Crawley have also changed managers this season, with Rob Elliot now in the dugout, and after losing each of his first four matches in charge, the former Newcastle goalkeeper has seen his side win two of their last three in all competitions.

Team News

Burton made eight changes for the cup win over Scarborough, but interim boss Hounsell is likely to recall the likes of Max Crocombe, Danilo Orsi and Mason Bennett for this game.

On-loan Chelsea teenager Ronnie Stutter and fellow forward Julian Larsson remain unavailable for the Brewers.

Football Odds

Crawley also made wholesale changes for their FA Cup win at Maidenhead United and Elliot is likely to revert back to a similar side to the one that lost at Northampton in their last league fixture, although Josh Flint, who picked up an injury in that game, is not expected to feature.

Burton Albion vs Crawley Town Odds

Despite having not won a league match since April, Burton are the 5/4 favourites to pick up all three points, giving the hosts an implied win probability of 44.4%, with Crawley priced at 9/5 and the draw 23/10.

The pair hold two of the leakiest defences in the division and it is 8/11 for over 2.5 goals to be scored, while it is 8/13 for both teams to find the back of the net.

Draw No Bet - Burton Albion @ 4/7

It has been a dismal start to the season for Burton and even at this relatively early stage of the campaign, Tuesday's match is starting to feel like a must-win contest.

There have been signs of encouragement for the Brewers under Hounsell, as they were unfortunate to lose his first match in charge, going down 1-0 at Cambridge despite having more shots, both on and off target, and possession than their hosts.

Burton then got just their second win of the season across all competitions against Scarborough and they will be facing a Crawley side that holds the worst away record in League 1, losing each of their last five games in the third tier on their travels.

If ever there was a game for Burton to get their league campaign up and running then it is this one, but given their record so far this season, the safest play is to back the Brewers in the 'Draw No Bet' market.

Burton Albion vs Crawley Town - Draw No Bet Burton Albion

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Bet Builder - Danilo Orsi (BUR) Anytime Goalscorer & Under 2.5 Total Goals @ 7/1

Danilo Orsi was a key figure in Crawley's promotion to League 1 last season, as he netted 25 goals for the Red Devils across all competitions, including four in the play-off victories over MK Dons and Crewe.

However, the 28-year-old left Crawley to join Burton over the summer and despite his new side's struggles, he has still found the back of the net six times, including in four of his last five League One appearances.

Orsi could easily come back to haunt his former club and is worth including as an anytime scorer in this Bet Builder, as is backing under 2.5 goals in the match.

Burton have scored more than once in just one of their last nine fixtures across all competitions, while Crawley are League 1's joint-lowest scorers on the road, netting a miserly three times in six away games.
