Burnley sit third in the Championship and their promotion chances are likely to hinge on their outstanding defensive record - conceding just nine times all season - which can continue when the Clarets entertain Hull on Wednesday night (19:45, live on Sky Sports+).

Read on for my Burnley vs Hull predictions, complete with the latest odds and team news.

Burnley vs Hull Predictions

  • Burnley to win to nil @ 6/4
  • Josh Brownhill to score first @ 13/2

Burnley vs Hull Odds

Burnley are 4/6 to record an eighth home win of the season, with the draw 5/2 and Hull available at 5/1.

The Clarets' defensive record means under 1.5 goals could be a popular bet. It has landed in seven of their last eight league games and is priced at 2/1.

Team News

Burnley boss Parker made wholesale changes for Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup win at Southampton and is expected to recall the likes of James Trafford, Connor Roberts, Maxime Esteve, Josh Cullen and Josh Laurent.

Nathan Redmond could also feature after returning to play the final seven minutes against his former club following a calf injury, while the matchwinner in that game, Marcus Edwards, is pushing for a start.

Hull may hand a debut to defender John Egan after he signed from Wednesday's hosts, while Louis Barry is pushing for a first start following his recent loan switch from Aston Villa.

Burnley to win to nil @ 6/4

Parker was previously criticised at Fulham and Bournemouth for being too defensive in his approach, but he seems to have doubled down on his tactics since moving to Turf Moor in the summer.

The Clarets are aiming to become the first second-tier side in history to keep 10 consecutive clean sheets, but face an improving Hull outfit who have won their last three away without conceding.

Ruben Selles' team had the weekend off and should be fresh, while Burnley will be buoyed by beating Premier League Southampton in the cup.

The hosts are the Championship's experts at grinding out results and can do so again, with a 1-0 home win worth a look at 9/2.

Josh Brownhill to score first @ 13/2

Midfielder Josh Brownhill is Burnley's leading scorer with nine goals, while striker Joao Pedro is the Tigers' top marksman with five.

Pedro has had his time shining in the top-flight, including scoring 13 or more goals for three seasons on the spin while with Serie A club Cagliari.

Brownhill is still to truly prove himself at the highest level, but was linked with a Premier League move in January.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and will have plenty of offers after a season which has also seen him provide four assists.

With limited goalmouth action expected, the former Bristol City man is a fine price to break the deadlock.
