BTTS Tips: 7/1 shot for Tuesday’s games

Tuesday night brings action from all over the country, as the EFL Trophy kicks into gear, and the National League fits in a midweek round of fixtures. Below I’ve taken a look at the fixture list and put forward five games for our BTTS Tips this Tuesday evening.
BTTS Tips - Tuesday, August 20
- Barnsley vs Man Utd U21
- Chesterfield vs Man City U21
- Stevenage vs Crystal Palace U21
- Barnet vs Forest Green
- Eastleigh vs Solihull Moors
Fivefold pays 7/1
Barnsley vs Man Utd U21
The EFL Trophy is usually a pretty hot tournament when it comes to goals, especially when you consider the games involving the U21 teams. Often they are technically good going forward, but lack the physicality, defensive nous and organsiation to keep clean sheets against senior EFL teams.
As such, we’ve picked out three games where this is the case on Tuesday night, starting with Barnsley vs Man Utd U21. Both teams have scored in each of Barnsley’s three matches so far this term over league and cup and the Tykes are certainly entertaining. They beat Lincoln 2-1 last time out, and will now take on Man Utd’s talented U21s.
Their first game of the season ended in a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal as hot prospect Ethan Wheatley found the net. I’m expecting a similar result at Oakwell, and the goals should flow freely.
Chesterfield vs Man City U21
Chesterfield have made a fine start to the League 2 season after promotion from the National League, picking up four points from their opening two league matches. They went to Crewe at the weekend and hammered them 5-0, as Paul Cook’s men flexed their attacking muscles.
With Will Grigg and Paddy Madden, there are plenty of goals in this team and I’d expect them to do well again against Man City’s youngsters. However, City also have a lot of talent within their ranks, but lost 3-1 to Liverpool last time out. This one should also feature goals at both ends.
Stevenage vs Crystal Palace U21
Stevenage have made a decent start to life under Alex Revell this term, winning one and losing one in the league so far. They were defeated by Huddersfield 2-1 last time out, while their midweek Carabao Cup trip to Carrow Road ended in a 4-3 loss. There’s clearly plenty of goals in this team, and they will fancy their chances up against Palace’s youngsters. Meanwhile, these are some of the biggest games of the season for the academy teams, and they will want to show their attacking quality. Goals please.
Barnet vs Forest Green
Two of the best teams in the National League meet on Tuesday in the league as Barnet host Forest Green Rovers. The Bees were favourites for promotion before the season kicked off and should be right up there. However, they have won one and lost one so far, both by a 2-1 scoreline.
They face a tough test against Forest Green. Star man Christian Doidge has already got three goals to his name for FGR and will look to add to that tally here. The visitors have scored seven goals in two league games this term, and will look to outscore the Bees in this huge clash.
Eastleigh vs Solihull Moors
Eastleigh have also been in fine goalscoring form, scoring six goals in 180 minutes so far in 2024/25. They face Solihull Moors, a side who lost the play-off final to Bromley last season on penalties, before losing at Wembley again on spot-kicks just six days later in the FA Trophy final.
However, despite the heartache, they are still a top side at this level and their games have also had a decent number of goals. They lost 3-2 to Fylde on the opening day, before beating Maidenhead United 2-1 last time out. I’m more than happy to add this one to our accumulator, given the attacking quality of both outfits.
