Leg 1 – Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion @ 1/2

I don’t think this is the biggest shock to open this article with as the Seagulls are the only team left with a 100% record for BTTS in the top-flight. Roberto’s De Zerbi’s men have shown plenty going forward to go with a surprising lack of quality at the back. The last time they were on the road in the EPL, they shipped six at Villa Park.

Manchester City have lost back-to-back games and whilst that is by no means a catastrophe seeing as they are still just two points off the top spot, it isn’t what we’ve come to expect from Pep’s side. I don’t see them being shut out in two games on the spin and with the way Brighton are on the front foot, I’m not expecting their streak to stop anytime soon.

Leg 2 – Bristol City vs Coventry City @ 8/13

Nigel Pearson’s side have hit a bit of a purple patch when it comes to Both Teams to Score with four of their past five games seeing this bet be a winner. That one miss was on the road at the King Power and many teams will go away from Leicester without troubling the scorers.

The visitors are one of six teams sitting at 73% for the season (8 of 11). Cov themselves have found the back of the net at least once in seven straight. 

These are two mid-table sides, who seem to be relatively equal in terms of quality. This points towards a score draw for me.

Leg 3 – Hull City vs Southampton @ 4/7

This leg is driven primarily by the data as they are both at 73% for the season. Things are looking slightly rosier at the northern end of the M27 as Russell Martin is starting to turn things around after the 5-0 thumping at Sunderland was followed up by a 1-4 mauling at home to Leicester. The Saints have taken seven points from the past nine and have scored in all three games.

As for Hull, only Ipswich and Leeds United have kept them from scoring this season. They aren’t prolific having only mustered 16 from their 11 games but they do seem to get on the scoresheet far more often than they don’t. The stats say this is a play.

Leg 4 – Bradford City vs Wrexham @ 4/5

Wrexham have been absolutely prolific at home but on the road, this isn’t as much as a slam dunk selection. Only Grimsby have made the trip to the Racecourse Ground and failed to score but when it comes to away games, Phil Parkinson’s side are just two of four in terms of BTTS.

The reason I’m putting this leg in is Valley Parade has been a happy hunting ground for both teams scoring this season, with four of six games seeing the bet be a winner. With the visitors now getting back to full strength, I like them to score pretty much most weeks. There are clearly still question marks defensively with them, so they continue to be a mainstay of my Saturday BTTS Accumulator.

Leg 5 – Crawley Town vs Crewe Alexandra @ 8/15

If Wrexham are regular features in this column, I’m not sure that Crewe Alexandra are too far behind. Here is a statistic that should get your attention, in six games away from the Moonflake Stadium, Lee Ball’s side have scored no fewer than 13 goals. That is an average of over one per 45 minutes. Now that is data.

Crawley are actually ranking towards the bottom of the BTTS in League 1 at just 50% but this is very much a case of just keeping things rolling with Crewe. Until they fail to hit BTTS on the road in these columns, I’ll probably keep going with them!

Leg 6 – Chesterfield vs Gateshead @ 4/9

What both teams to score column would be complete without at least a glance at my old friend, the National League? Chesterfield sit on top of the table but not only that, they are sitting pretty at a tasty 80% when it comes to partaking in games where both teams hit the back of the net.

They are top scorers in the division with 36 from 15 but the second most prolific in front of goal are Saturday’s opponents Gateshead. In this scenario you have to fancy BTTS and you can see why it’s shorter than 1/2.
