After a 11/1 winner on Tuesday night, we are back with our BTTS column concentrating on the Saturday 3PM kick-offs for August 19. As we often do, the National League features heavily in this sixfold priced up at 18/1 at the time of writing…

  • Overall Odds – 18/1

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The National League is a treasure trove for BTTS enthusiasts and on Tuesday we had an 11/1 fivefold exclusively from the fifth tier of English football and it came home. Flyde and Kidderminster looked worrying for a time but they both scored in the final quarter of an hour and we rolled to our first win of the season.

Four games from that league this Saturday but we start with our sole game from the top three tiers and that comes from Craven Cottage where I have both teams scoring. Fulham kept a clean sheet at Goodison Park on the opening weekend but if Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the chances Neal Maupay did, I doubt that holds up. Brentford looked very dangerous on the break against Spurs and scored twice and could have had more. Should be an open game and the Bees (like Tottenham) could well be regular fixtures in our BTTS selections.

Speaking of regular fixtures, oh hello there Wrexham. In their two home games back in League 2 following their promotion last season, they’ve lost 3-5 and won 4-2. Fair to say they are suspect at the back but good going forward. As for the visitors, they have hit BTTS in all three games played so far (including EFL Cup). All signs point to plenty of goals at the Racecourse Ground.

Now we come on to the National League portion of the column and in alphabetical order, we start with Altrincham, who have been a favourite of ours for six months or so now. Like a couple of teams on this list, they have been 100% for BTTS so far in the early stages of the 23/24 campaign and have scored and conceded multiple goals more often than they haven’t. They face a Boreham Wood team who themselves have scored in every game, although they have picked up one clean sheet. I don’t see them doing that again.

Woking kicked-off their season with a 0-0 draw at Kidderminster but since then, they’ve been scoring and shipping goals like they are going out of fashion. They’ve both scored and let in five goals across the two league games since opening day and as for (another set of) Bees, they’ve found the back of the net at least twice in all three league games so far.

Gateshead are another go-to club that featured heavily towards the end of last season and are keeping up their regular appearances here on the Betfred Insights BTTS tipping column. They are 100% for the season so far and were involved in a six-goal game in the week down in London against Dagenham & Redbridge. Ebbsfleet have one of the best defensive records in the division having already picked up two clean sheets but Mike Williamson’s side aren’t ones for not scoring, so I still like Gateshead to find the back of the net. The Fleet have themselves scored in all three games so chalk up another National League BTTS prediction here.

Last up is yet another 100% record for BTTS side in Solihull Moors. I know it is early in the season but the trends are already starting to form and they welcome in Dorking, who were the top side for both teams scoring last season and were involved in a 4-3 scoreline the last time they went on their travels.
