Bristol City vs Sheffield United Prediction: Blades can continue top two push

Sheffield United moved up to third in the Championship at the weekend as they ended Blackburn’s unbeaten home record with a 2-0 win. Now they will travel to Bristol City on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+), to take on the Robins who are in sparkling form themselves, having gone eight games without defeat.
Liam Manning’s men will be targeting another home success here off the back of a 3-1 win over Preston North End. Below you can find my Bristol City vs Sheffield United predictions featuring team news and betting tips.

Team News
Rob Dickie returned to the Bristol City XI against Preston and given the level of performance, Manning could name an unchanged XI. Nahki Wells, Max Bird and Yu Hirakawa all found the net as part of the front three, while Dickie was joined by Luke McNally and Zak Vyner in a back three.
Again this system leaves the Robins with a wealth of attacking options on the bench, with Sinclair Armstrong, Fally Mayulu and Harry Cornick all trying to get back into the starting line-up. However, given the unbeaten run, I expect the same team to turn out on Tuesday night.
Sheffield United captain Jack Robinson returned to the starting XI after 10 games on the sideline, and he helped his side keep their ninth clean sheet of the season. Gustavo Hamer dropped to the bench for this one as Rhian Brewster came in to partner Kieffer Moore up front. Given Tyrese Campbell scored off the bench, he could be handed a start alongside Moore, while I would also expect Hamer to return to the midfield, potentially in place of Callum O’Hare.
Left-back Harrison Burrows scored his first goal for his new club so the back four is also likely to stay unchanged, with the outstanding Michael Cooper keeping another clean sheet behind them.
Bristol City vs Sheffield United Odds
Bristol City are priced at 9/5 to win this game, Sheffield United are 8/5 and a draw is available at 9/4. That gives the Blades a win probability of 38% while over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and BTTS is 4/5. Wells is the favourite to open the scoring at 6/1.
Sheffield United to win to nil @ 16/5
I’ve backed this on several occasions so far this season with great success. Despite Bristol City’s impressive unbeaten run they were handed a slice of luck when Hirakawa clearly handled the ball past Freddie Woodman for the opening goal against Preston. That was one of only three shots on target the Robins had as the efficiently dispatched their hosts at Deepdale.
Now, City are on a great run of form as we’ve alluded to already, but they have also drawn their last three home games, with two of those against Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday ending 0-0. I think up against the best defence in the league - one that has conceded just six goals - they will struggle to find the net and I believe Sheffield United have what it takes to get three points here.
The Blades have an immense season so far and are now putting the pressure on the top two of Sunderland and Leeds. They could be in title contention if they get another win here, and I’ll back them to come away with three points and a clean sheet.

Tyrese Campbell to score @ 11/4
I think Sheffield United will be able to find the net at Ashton Gate, while I’m also happy to pick out Campbell as an anytime scorer. I think he will be given a rare start in this midweek fixture, with Brewster likely to drop out for the goalscorer.
He’s now scored two in his last two outings and brings something completely different to this side. With O’Hare and Hamer behind Moore, they often lack that willing runner to stretch defences, and that’s where Campbell can thrive. He’s been excellent of late so I’d expect him to start this one, and cause Bristol City a few problems. It’s a decent price on an anytime scorer.
