Brighton finished last season in something of a slump as Roberto De Zerbi's otherwise impressive time in charge at the south-coast club rather fizzled out.

The Seagulls won only one of their final 10 Premier League games, losing six times, as the expectation that the manager would not be extending his contract appeared to affect the team's performances on the pitch.

Albion are adept at plucking talented coaches from unexpected sources, though, and their latest discovery, 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler, made a perfect start to his time with the club when overseeing a 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Brighton vs Man United Odds

That should guarantee a positive atmosphere for Brighton's first home game of the season and they are capable of getting a second victory on the board.

Manchester United won 2-0 on their last visit to Sussex in De Zerbi's final match as manager but that was a rare success for them in this fixture as Brighton had won the teams' previous four league meetings including 4-0 and 1-0 victories at home.

The Red Devils also made a winning start to the new campaign, with a late goal from new signing Joshua Zirkzee giving them a 1-0 home success over Fulham, but this is a sterner test and they could be found wanting.

Despite the result, It was not an impressive start to the league for Erik ten Hag's team and they struggled in their tougher road games last season, losing seven of their nine away games against the other top-half teams.

Hurzeler has a good chance to endear himself to the Seagulls fans in his first home match by posting a victory over their illustrious visitors.

Under 2.5 goals

The first 12.30pm kick-off of the Premier League season was a low-scoring affair as Liverpool took time to find their stride against Ipswich, perking up in the second half to win 2-0, and another game with under 2.5 goals could be played out at the Amex this week.

The teams' meeting on the final day of last season brought a 2-0 victory for United and that was the third time in their last four league and cup encounters that no more than two goals had been scored.

Football Odds

Brighton got three goals on the board at Everton, but the third was added only in the 87th minute, by which time the home side had been playing with 10 men for 21 minutes following the dismissal of Ashley Young.

There were questions about the strength of United's defence heading into the season but they have made a decent enough start to draw 1-1 with Manchester City in the Community Shield and keep a clean sheet against Fulham.

Saturday lunchtime matches can take some time to get going and this may not be an end-to-end battle.

Alejandro Garnacho to have 2+ shots

Alejandro Garnacho was a surprise omission from the Manchester United starting line-up for their opening-night win over Fulham but he was still able to make his mark, coming off the bench in the 61st minute and supplying the assist for the winning goal.

That should be enough to earn him a start at Brighton and the exciting young Spaniard had already opened his account for the season when putting his side ahead in the Community Shield.

He looks sure to be a live-wire again and one of United's most likely sources of goals and backing him to have at least two cracks at the Brighton goal looks a low-risk addition to our bet builder.
