Football Bet of the Day: Die Fohlen star to see 2023 out in style

Christmas is around the corner and Bundesliga players are about to embark on a lengthy winter break. But before that, there is one final round of fixtures to be played and Borussia Monchengladbach travel to Eintracht Frankfurt looking to end the year on a high and with a valuable three points.

There is one player for the visitors who can have a huge say in the outcome of this game and we are backing him to find the back of the net as our bet of the day.

Alassane Plea is having an excellent campaign in front of goal for the Foals, having scored seven goals in 15 Bundesliga matches. His best total during his spell with Gladbach is 12 back in 2018-19.

The Frenchman would've been very disappointed with the numbers he posted last year, with just two goals scored, but he has certainly picked up the slack this term since Gerardo Seoane took charge of the squad in the summer.

Plea has been Die Fohlen's most consistent performer this season and if they are to better last year's 10th-place finish, his contributions will be vital. The 30-year-old has found the back of the net in five of his last seven league appearances, and he nearly scored in the 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen last time out with an effort that flew just wide of the post.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been having a similar season to the Foals - they have both found consistency an issue. The hosts have won just one more match than Gladbach, and are just four points and three places above them.

Because of this, this game is very hard to call from a results perspective. However, this does present an opportunity for the form players to step up and Plea will be sensing an opportunity on Wednesday.

After going a game without a goal, it feels like he is due to get back on the scoresheet in this one and it could see the Foals end 2023 in style and potentially break into the top 10.
