The international break may be upon us but there's still plenty of club football to enjoy on Tuesday, with games in the Women's Champions League, EFL Trophy and National League.

It's the latter of those competitions that is the focus for our Football Bet of the Day, with promotion-chasing Gateshead tipped to win an entertaining encounter on the road at Tamworth (19:45 KO).

Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, October 8

  • Gateshead to win and both teams to score @ 13/5

It has been a turbulent few months for Gateshead, who were denied a place in last season's National League play-offs due to failing to meet the EFL's criteria for promotion before then going on to win the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

The current campaign has also been hectic for the Tynesiders, who lost just two of their opening 11 National League games before seeing manager Rob Elliot depart for League One Crawley at the start of the month.

That could have seen a downturn in results for Gateshead, but caretaker boss Ben Clark has overseen back-to-back wins against Middlesbrough U21s in the National League Cup and Wealdstone in the league.

Gateshead have now won four successive matches - including the final two of Elliot's tenure - and they will fancy their chances of extending that to five when they head to the Lamb Ground to take on a Tamworth side that sit 12 points and 15 places below them in the standings.

Tamworth vs Gateshead Odds

Tamworth were promoted back to the National League after a 10-year absence last season and it has taken them time to adjust to life back in the fifth tier, winning only one of their opening seven matches.

A three-game winning streak then followed but Andy Peaks' side have since lost back-to-back games against Altrincham and Halifax, while they are yet to beat a team that currently sits above 17th in the standings.

Keeping clean sheets has been a particular problem for Tamworth, who have registered just one shut out all season and none on home soil.

However, the Lambs do tend to score, netting in each of their last five games, a run they will expect to extend against a Gateshead team that have conceded more goals than any other side in the top six despite playing a game less than all of those rivals.

Gateshead have let in 15 goals across their 12 National League matches to date, 10 of which have been conceded on the road, with seven of those being shipped in a recent 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Dagenham & Redbridge.

Both teams have scored in each of Gateshead's last four away matches and that run can continue in Staffordshire this midweek, but ultimately the Heed should triumph to make it three wins from three under caretaker boss Clark.
