Bayer Leverkusen are flying high in the German Bundesliga and they have transformed their stunning domestic form into European competition too.

Xabi Alonso's men have won 14 of their 15 matches in all competitions this season, and they are in full control of Europa League Group H having won all three matches in this campaign.

One more win will send them into the knockout stages with two games to spare and they look set to land that crucial victory at Azerbaijan giants, Qarabag on Thursday.

Football Bet of the Day - Thursday 9th November

  • Bayer Leverkusen to win & both teams score @ 8/5

Spain legend, Alonso, was a classy operator on the pitch for Real Sociedad, Liverpool and Real Madrid, and he has taken that talent into the dugout with him, and his first senior managerial role couldn't have started any better.

Alonso took over Leverkusen just over a year ago when they were languishing second-from-bottom in the Bundesliga after eight matches. A 4-0 win over Schalke in his first match was a sign of things to come and he hasn't looked back since.

A run to the semi-finals of the Europa League last season was impressive and the German side are second favourites behind Liverpool to go one better this season.

And they look well-equipped to do so following their astonishing start to the campaign that still sees them unbeaten in all competitions after 15 fixtures.

They are on a 10-match winning streak and included in that run was a 5-1 win over Qarabag on matchday three of this competition. That has left them with one foot in the next stage of the Europa League and they can take a giant leap into the next round with another victory on Thursday.

They are warm 2/5 favourites to get the job done and it is hard to see them not getting the job done against their opponents who are 11/2 shots to spring a surprise.

Leverkusen may not have things all their own way though, and there looks to be better-value bets for this intriguing contest.

Qarabag are handily-placed to finish as runners-up to Leverkusen, but a shock win this week could have them dreaming of finishing in top spot with two games to go.

The Azerbaijan side are a tough nut to crack on home soil and are unbeaten in their last nine matches at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium. And they are no strangers to a lively contest either.

Both teams have scored in Qarabag's last four matches which have seen 21 goals scored across that quartet of fixtures and goals could be on the menu in Karabakh this week.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in all 14 of Leverkusen's matches in all competitions this season so backing an away win in a match featuring at least three goals looks a decent bet at 5/6.

However, there is more profit to be had and the 8/5 about Leverkusen winning and both teams scoring looks the best way to go in this match.
