Football Bet of the Day: Entertaining affair at The Showgrounds

It is a relatively quiet night of football on Monday but the day's Northern Irish Premiership tussle between Coleraine and Glentoran at The Showgrounds could be an intriguing contest.

Both clubs occupy mid-table positions as it stands with Glentoran in fifth spot on 24 points and Coleraine just below them by a place and a point.

That should make for a close contest with form on the side of hosts Coleraine but overall numbers favouring Glentoran, who have scored more and conceded fewer in the league than their opponents.

Football Bet of the Day - Monday 13th November

  • Draw in Coleraine vs Glentoran @ 23/10

It has been a case of all or nothing for Coleraine for most of this season with the club from County Londonderry having won or lost each of their last 10 fixtures.

But the draw could be the best bet when they welcome Glentoran to The Showgrounds and it looks a decent price at 23/10.

In their most recent league fixture, a Conor McKendry brace in the second half handed Coleraine a 2-0 win away to Crusaders but on home soil they have struggled to make the same impact.

Their six home league matches have yielded only seven points this season and that should boost the confidence of visitors Glentoran.

There may only be a point separating these sides but Glentoran's goal difference of +9 suggests they have been performing much better than Coleraine, whose goal difference is -4 after 15 matches.

But Glentoran look like a side low on confidence right now, having failed to win any of their last three fixtures in all competitions.

They have at least scored in each of their last six games but they have also conceded in each of their last four and that enhances the appeal about a tight game on Monday night.

While Coleraine's home performances have left plenty to be desired this term, they can at least boast four wins in their last seven games, so there are cases to be made for both of these sides.

Ultimately both clubs have posted seven wins from 15 games and are separated by just a point and a place so a stalemate should be on the cards.

There were also only two places between the sides in the Northern Irish Premiership regular season last term and Coleraine's cup encounter with Ballymena on Tuesday finished all square at 1-1, before they won a thrilling penalty shootout 18-17 to progress.

The draw is the best bet in this one but it also has the makings of a high-scoring game with over 1.5 goals priced at 2/9 and over 2.5 goals available at 8/11.

Both teams to score, meanwhile, is 4/7, so it could be a good watch at The Showgrounds.
