After a quite staggering start to his career in Madrid, England midfielder Jude Bellingham has opened as the betting favourite to win the 2024 Ballon D’Or with us at Betfred. We go through the latest betting prices…

Ballon d'Or 2024 Odds (Selected Players):

  • Jude Bellingham - 3/1
  • Kylian Mbappe - 4/1
  • Erling Haaland - 5/1
  • Harry Kane - 6/1
  • Rodri - 10/1
  • Lionel Messi - 10/1
  • Kevin De Bruyne - 20/1
  • Vinicius - 20/1
  • Mo Salah - 25/1
  • Jamal Musiala - 25/1
  • Robert Lewandowski - 25/1

Talk about a rise to prominence. Everyone knew that Jude Bellingham was a supreme talent but his form since moving to Spain and playing in a more advanced role has been nothing short of staggering. His goal output has gone from one in six to a goal-a-game. That would be outstanding for a striker but for a central midfielder, it is on another level.

The 20-year-old is on the fast-track to being mentioned as one of the best players in the world and it comes as no real surprise to see him open at 3/1 to be crowned as the best player for 2024.

He could be joined in the Spanish capital by Kylian Mbappe next season if reports are to be believed and it is the French striker who is the second-favourite, coming in at 4/1. His form at the World Cup was outstanding but he’s yet to reach those heights domestically with PSG so far this campaign. With his contract running out and no plans on extending his stay in Paris, a new start could reinvigorate his career. The 24 year-old finished third in the voting this year.

Manchester City fans have been thoroughly enjoying the exploits of Erling Haaland and the Norwegian striker is the 5/1 third-favourite to lift the award next year. His goals were a key reason for Pep’s side breakthrough in Europe, lifting the Champions League Trophy to go along with winning the Premier League and FA Cup. He finished runner-up in 2023 and could well go one better next time around.

An interesting name pops up next and that is Bayern Munich and England star, Harry Kane. His decision to leave Spurs in the summer has seen him disappear off the radar somewhat for casual fans but he’s hit the ground running in Germany and with Euro 2024 slap-bang in the middle of next year, if his goals lead to Bayern winning the Champions League and/or England being crowned Champions of Europe, that 6/1 price will shorten.

The 2023 winner comes in next at 10/1 but the chances of Lionel Messi winning his ninth Ballon d’Or whilst playing full-time in the MLS feels like a bit of a longshot. He took home the title this year primarily thanks to helping Argentina win the World Cup. Manchester City midfielder Rodri can also be backed at 10/1.

Other names of note include the currently injured Kevin De Bruyne, who comes in at 20/1 alongside Real Madrid striker Vinicius. Mo Salah is one of three players priced up at 25/1. If you think Cristiano Ronaldo can win it again despite playing in Saudi Arabia, then 33/1 are the odds with Bukayo Saka the most interesting priced player at 40/1.

If you like real longshots then how about Manchester United and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay? He’s playing great for his country but is struggling to get into his club side. You can back him (and for some reason, John McGinn) at 200/1.
