El Derbi Madrileno headlines matchday six of the 2023/24 La Liga campaign, as Atletico Madrid host city rivals Real Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday night (20:00).

Los Blancos currently sit top of the table while Diego Simeone’s men are languishing down in seventh place after a shock 3-0 defeat to Valencia last weekend.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid Prediction

  • Real Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals @ 9/2
  • Jude Bellingham to score anytime @ 13/5

Team News

Atletico have suffered plenty of injuries so far this season, and their concerns have only grown in size after Thomas Lemar suffered a serious injury at Valencia, while Pablo Barrios had to be substituted at half time in the Champions League clash with Lazio in midweek.

As for the visitors, Dani Carvajal remains absent, while Vinicius Junior continues to recover from a thigh injury.

Real Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals @ 9/2

Real Madrid have started the season in perfect fashion, winning all five of their La Liga matches so far, so it will take a monumental effort for this injury-riddled Atletico side to overcome their rivals this weekend.

However, the victories haven’t been quite as dominant as the 100% record may suggest for Los Blancos. They scraped past Union Berlin by a single goal in midweek – a 94th-minute winner from Jude Bellingham – and that marked the fourth consecutive game that Carlo Ancelotti’s side had won by such a margin.

Madrid derbies are often cagey affairs naturally, but given Real’s lack of quality going forward in recent weeks, I’ll take an away win and under 2.5 goals here. In the last 13 meetings between the two sides in La Liga, 11 of them have ended with fewer than three total goals in the match.

Jude Bellingham to score anytime @ 11/4

Jude Bellingham has made a great start to his Real Madrid career with five goals in as many La Liga games.

The former Borussia Dortmund man scored a stoppage-time winner against Getafe in his first Bernabeu outing – emulating Cristiano Ronaldo by netting in his opening four La Liga games.

As mentioned, he scored the winner in midweek against Union Berlin – his sixth goal of the season across all competitions – and he can add to his tally once more this weekend with a derby strike.
