Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

  • Aston Villa win & both teams to score @ 7/4
  • Morgan Rogers anytime goalscorer @ 9/5

The teams passed different tests in the third round, as Villa came out on top in another all-top-flight battle, winning 2-1 at home to West Ham, while Tottenham had to work much harder than expected to progress past non-league Tamworth, winning 3-0 after extra time.

Both teams are looking to bounce back after defeats in their latest matches, with Villa losing 2-0 to Wolves at Molineux in the Premier League last weekend.

Spurs won their last league match 2-0 at Brentford but suffered another setback when they were walloped 4-0 at Anfield on Thursday in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Team News

Axel Disasi is cup-tied but new signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio are available for Villa.

Ollie Watkins (groin), Tyrone Mings (knee), Pau Torres (ankle), Ross Barkley (calf) and Matty Cash (unspecified) are injured.

Leon Bailey and Donyell Malen could feature.

Football Odds

Richarlison (calf) is the latest Tottenham injury victim. Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Micky van de Ven (fitness), Radu Dragusin (knee), Cristian Romero (thigh), Destiny Udogie (hamstring), Wilson Odobert (hamstring), Dominic Solanke (knee), James Maddison (calf), Timo Werner (thigh) and Brennan Johnson (calf) are all set to miss out through injuries.

Lucas Bergvall and new signing Mathys Tel could start.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Aston Villa are 7/10 favourites at home (90 minutes), implying a 58.8% chance of success, while Tottenham are available at 100/30, or a 23.1% chance, and the draw is priced at 16/5.

Over 3.5 goals is on offer at 6/5, with odds of 4/6 for under 3.5, while it's 4/9 that both teams score in the match and 7/4 that at least one team fails to get on the scoresheet.

Aston Villa win & both teams to score @ 7/4

Aston Villa's Premier League defeat at Wolves was disappointing for a team targeting another high finish but it was not the first time this season that they had suffered a let-down in the matches following their Champions League adventures.

Their losses to Liverpool, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest and draws with Manchester United, Bournemouth and West Ham all followed midweek European assignments and Unai Emery's side should be able to put that game behind them having had a full week to prepare.

The Villans are unbeaten in their last 10 games at Villa Park and their last eight losses have all been sustained in away matches.

Tottenham have won their last two away games, at Brentford in the league and Hoffenheim in the Europa League, but they have lost seven of their 12 away games in the top flight and looked totally outclassed in their Carabao Cup hammering at Anfield on Thursday.

That fixture means a quick turnaround for this match and that's far from ideal given Spurs' injury-ravaged squad, with Richarlison the latest name added to the list of absentees Ange Postecoglou is having to deal with.

Spurs beat Villa 4-1 in London in November, but none of their three scorers from that match - Johnson, Solanke and Maddison - are likely to be available this time.

Tottenham have scored on their last 17 visits to Villa Park, and keeping goals out is a bigger problem for them so take Villa to win a game that sees both teams find the net.

Morgan Rogers anytime goalscorer @ 9/5

Morgan Rogers gave Villa a half-time lead in the teams' first meeting this season before Spurs scored four second-half goals and he looks a prime candidate to get on the scoresheet against them this time too.

With Jhon Duran having left the club and star man Watkins currently injured, Villa will be looking to Rogers to carry their attack, at least until new signings Rashford and Asensio are up to speed.

Rogers loves playing in front of a home crowd and has bagged six goals in his last five appearances at Villa Park, including a hat-trick against Celtic in the Champions League on his last outing there.
