Equatorial Guinea vs Sudan Prediction: Experience to tell in Casablanca

After both lost their first game in Group E, the pressure is on Equatorial Guinea and Sudan to pick up a point, or three, in Sunday's head-to-head at the Stade Mohamed V (15:00 GMT, 4seven).

Team News

Basilio Ndong is suspended for Equatorial Guinea after receiving a red card in the 50th minute of his country's 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso. Charles Ondo could replace him in the starting XI on Sunday.

All-time leading goalscorer Emilio Nsue was an unused substitute on Wednesday, so he will be looking to make his first appearance of this year's tournament.

Sudan also saw one of their players, Salaheldin Alhassan, sent off in their first group game against Algeria, who beat them 3-0, so they too will have to make at least one change to their starting XI.

Equatorial Guinea have won the two previous head-to-heads in September 2018 (1-0) and March 2019 (1-4), and National Thunder are 11/8 to maintain their 100% record on Sunday, implying a 42.1% probability of success, with Sudan 12/5, or a 29.4% chance, to claim a first-ever victory against them. The draw, meanwhile, is priced at 15/8.

To Win to Nil - Equatorial Guinea @ 21/10

Sudan mustered just five attempts on Wednesday as they were easily beaten by Algeria.

While Equatorial Guinea should represent an easier assignment, the facts are that Sudan have blanked in nine of their last 11 games, suffering seven defeats in that period.

Equatorial Guinea are much more experienced on this stage, and despite going down to 10 men in the 50th minute against Burkina Faso on Wednesday, they nearly claimed all three points, taking the lead in the 85th minute, only to concede a couple in added time.

Corner Over/Under - Over 9.5 @ 5/4

The first two games in Group E both saw 12 corners taken, with Burkina Faso winning nine to Equatorial Guinea's three, and Algeria recording 11 to Sudan's one.

With both sides gunning for glory this Sunday, I'm expecting plenty of shots and crosses in Casablanca, which should lend itself to a fair few corners being taken.

At least 10 looks achievable, so at 5/4, that is my second pick.
