Netherlands and South Africa have got two points on the board after opening-match wins as they prepare to meet in a crunch Group D encounter in New York (15:30).

South Africa are strong favourites but the Dutch beat them at both the last T20 World Cup and also last year's 50-over World Cup, so will surely fancy their chances.

Netherlands vs South Africa Betting Tips

  • Marco Jansen top South Africa wicket-taker @ 18/5
  • Quinton de Kock top South Africa batter @ 11/4

Team News

The Dutch are set to be unchanged from the side that beat Oman in their opening contest.

It's entirely likely South Africa will go with the same eleven who thrashed Sri Lanka. The most likely change, if there is one, would be to give Tabraiz Shamsi a game instead of paceman Ottneil Baartman, though pace does look a more useful weapon on a minefield of a track.

Netherlands vs South Africa Odds

South Africa are 1/14 to beat Netherlands who get a 7/1 quote. South Africa are 2/13 to hit the most sixes and 1/5 to hit the most fours.

South Africa's fearsome pace attack did for Sri Lanka in the first game at the Nassau County Stadium.

Of the nine wickets which fell to bowlers in the Lankans' paltry total of 77, seven went to seamers.

In the other game played at New York in the first few days of action, India skittled Ireland for only 96 with eight of the nine wickets which fell to bowlers going to the quicks.

The brutal truth is that the playing surface at the Nassau isn't the best and these top pace attacks - like South Africa's and India's - are going to be at a huge advantage.

Marco Jansen took the new ball against Sri Lanka and even though the left-arm swinger didn't get a wicket, he was a threat. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje took six wickets between them and head the Boks' top wicket-taker betting so Jansen, with the new ball, looks overpriced at 18/5.

If the South Africa seam attack is a threat then the same has to be said of the Dutch quicks, especially on this surface.

And they also have a bowler at an attractive price in top wicket-taker betting - 18/5 shot Tim Pringle. He took three wickets in his nation's six-wicket win over Nepal and will enjoy the lively surface.

There is a better bet potentially to be had in the top South Africa runscorer market.

It applies whether South Africa bat first or not but if they are chasing, and potentially chasing a low total, then don't look beyond the openers, Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks.

Hendricks missed out against Sri Lanka while De Kock top scored with just 20, a sedate knock on a tricky surface which included just one boundary. Back the left-hander to come good again at 11/4.
