Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson is a frequent guest on Betfred TV. Listen to the latest chat with him, in conversation with Mark Pearson, ahead of the weekend’s big Arsenal vs Tottenham clash at The Emirates.

Paul Robinson doesn’t expect a return for Arsenal and England keeper Aaron Ramsdale “any time soon.”

Fans will be scrutinising the team sheets an hour before Sunday’s eagerly-awaited north London derby to see whether the Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta recalls Ramsdale.

But Robinson, who starred in goal for Spurs and England, doesn’t think he will return and Arteta will stick with David Raya when the two clubs who are second and fourth in the Premier League go head-to-head at the Emirates.

“It’s a kick in the teeth and there is no way back any time soon, ” Robinson told the Betfred TV Football Show. He said Raya, who is on loan from Brentford, turned down Chelsea and Real Madrid – and wants to play and “not sit on his backside”.

Robinson reckons that however Arteta dresses up his decision, Ramsdale has been dropped and it will have been a “real kick in the teeth” for the keeper who played for England against Scotland earlier this month – and has been in excellent form all season having played all Premier League games since March 2022 before being switched for Raya for the Everton game.

And Robinson believes Ramsdale’s respect for Arteta has been damaged and that a loan move in January for the deposed keeper is on the cards. On the game itself, Robinson is full of praise for the impact of boss Ange Postecoglou who he believes has created a Spurs team that doesn’t roll over although stressing Sunday will be his first big test.

Although accepting few Tottenham players would get into a combined Arsenal-Spurs line-up, he predicts a 3-2 triumph for his former club.
