Horse Racing Tips: Earth Shot can pull off Oaks raid at the Curragh

You can take your pick of the action on Saturday, as there are a whopping eight meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, with a Classic taking place in the latter. Our afternoon entertainment is provided by Newbury, Market Rasen, Ripon, the Curragh, Newmarket and Cartmel, with the evening action provided by Doncaster and Nottingham. The Curragh’s Irish Oaks is the big race of the day and it should be a cracker!
Amongst our strongest fancies across the afternoon is a Royal Ascot winner for British trainer William Haggas, who is set to launch a bid for Oaks glory at the Curragh. The improving filly can continue on an upward trajectory and needs to be considered.

14:10 Market Rasen - Newton Rambler @ 11/1
Adrian Keatley’s NEWTON RAMBLER has been in excellent form over fences of late and connections are seeking to take advantage of his significantly lower mark over hurdles. If converting his chase form over timber, the seven-year-old looks very well treated.
Previously with Henry de Bromhead in Ireland, where he managed to win a maiden hurdle, the son of Snow Sky has taken his form to the next level since joining Keatley. He landed a handicap hurdle at Warwick back in March and has since won three times over fences.
Newton Rambler got the better of Kingston Narcissus when winning a competitive chase at Uttoxeter last time out and that success came off a mark of 128. Currently on a 4lb lower mark over hurdles, he clearly has a bit up his sleeve and is well set to take full advantage in the Class 2 Summer Handicap Hurdle with regular rider Oakley Brown claiming 5lb in the saddle.

15:02 Newbury - Song Of The Clyde @ 5/1
Clive Cox knows what he’s doing when it comes to training sprinters and SONG OF THE CLYDE brings a fair level of form to the table in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes.
The son of Sergei Prokofiev has paid for himself three times over, having landed a very valuable sales race at York last term.
He then earned a fair amount of prize money when finishing second in a similar race at Doncaster on his next start. Fourth in handicap company on seasonal debut, he appeared to need the run on that occasion, as he ran out of steam in the last half-a-furlong or so.
That proved to be the case, as he took a big step forward to beat the highly regarded Albert Einstein in a course-and-distance Listed race after that. He was only four lengths behind the winner in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and a similar effort would give him every chance here.

16:35 Curragh - Earth Shot @ 3/1
William Haggas won the Irish Oaks with the progressive Sea Of Class back in 2018 and his runner this year arrives with a very similar profile. EARTH SHOT is definitely going the right way and she looks well set to make her presence felt in Group 1 company on this occasion.
She has only had four starts to date and is yet to finish outside of the first two. This daughter of Time Test was a very impressive winner of a 1m2f maiden on her first start of the season at Newmarket and the third has boosted the form by winning since.
It is possible that the occasion got to her slightly at Royal Ascot as she was uncharacteristically keen in the early stages when upped in grade for the Ribblesdale Stakes. That didn’t stop her from winning, however, and she’s going to get better with more experience.
