Egypt have already secured a spot in the World Cup knockout stage, but they will have the chance to top Group G if they beat Iran in Seattle. This one kicks off at 8pm local time, or 4am on Saturday morning BST, with the game live on BBC Two.

Draw

A straightforward Bet Builder perhaps, but one I think has a great chance of coming in. First of all I wanna back the draw to get us underway. Egypt may have beaten New Zealand and drawn with Belgium, but I’ve been equally as impressed with the unbeaten Iranians.

This pick does take into account the fact that these two look well-matched, but also the fact that Iran only need one point to be in an extremely strong position to progress as one of the best third-place teams. Three points and small negative goal difference could be enough, so Iran’s three points and zero goal difference would surely take them into the last 32.

Meanwhile, Egypt would like to win the group, but a point could also be enough for them, should Belgium fail to beat New Zealand by more than two goals. That’s a realistic possibility, so I’ll back a draw to suit both teams down to the ground.

Iran progressing from this group would be simply seismic - and I’m backing it to happen.

Egypt vs Iran Odds

Mehdi Taremi 2+ fouls (Sub Switch)

Iran’s most famous player Mehdi Taremi is yet to get off the mark for his country at this World Cup, and given this could be a 0-0 that suits both teams, I’m going to steer away from goal selections in this Bet Builder.

Taremi is likely to have a battle on his hands against the Egyptian centre-backs and he made two fouls, the joint-most of the Iranian team against Belgium, and I think Iran will be digging in in order to make it through. I like the big price on him to make two more fouls in this one, with Betfred’s Sub Switch meaning the bet rolls on to his replacement should Taremi get subbed.

Mohamed Salah 2+ shots (Sub Switch)

The Egyptian King produced a goal and an assist in 3-1 win over New Zealand, but he also had a remarkable five shots in total, the most in the match by some margin. He is going to be trying to break down this Iran side and will surely have plenty of attempts once more.

I’ve played things safe with 2+ Salah shots, which takes our Bet Builder to 8/1.

Betfred's Sub Switch offer rolls your bet to the oncoming substitute, so you stay in the game, even when your player doesn’t.
