Japan vs Sweden Bet Builder Tips: PL midfielders to star in Texas four-fold

Unbeaten Japan take on a Sweden side who have been on both sides of a 5-1 in their first two Group F fixtures at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both teams can still finish anywhere between first and third, but with the Netherlands expected to sweep Tunisia aside, this game at AT&T Stadium looks like a second place play-off, with the Samurai Blue in the driving seat as they only need a draw to guarantee a top-two finish.
Below are my Japan vs Sweden Bet Builder tips for this encounter in Arlington, Texas (Thursday 6pm local, Friday 12am BST, BBC One).

Both Teams to Score
Six goals have been scored in each of Sweden’s two games so far at this year’s World Cup, with a 5-1 hiding of Tunisia followed by a same-scoreline thrashing by the Netherlands.
Both Teams to Score has now been a winning bet in Blagult’s last eight games stretching back to last November, with at least four goals scored in seven.
It’s clear to see that Graham Potter’s side are strong up front, no surprise when you see Alexander Isak paired up top with Viktor Gyokeres, but lacking badly at the back.
Japan’s defence is a lot more solid, with Hajime Moriyasu’s men recording five consecutive clean sheets heading into this tournament, and after sharing four goals with the Netherlands in a 2-2 draw, they held Tunisia off in a 4-0 victory to leave themselves in a strong position in Group F.
While Japan’s defensive record is impressive, they look vulnerable from set-pieces, and that could be a route to goal for the Swedes in Arlington.
Player 2+ Shots (Sub Switch) - Yasin Ayari (SWE)
I backed this selection in my Sweden-Netherlands Bet Builder, and the Brighton midfielder didn’t let me down, racking up five efforts at goal against the Dutch to make it seven shots from two World Cup games following his brace in the opening-round win over Tunisia.
The 22-year-old, who averaged 1.9 shots per 90 in the 2025/26 Premier League season, has taken six of his seven shots from outside of the penalty box, so even if Japan restrict the amount of chances they conceded in the 18-yard area, Ayari will surely be trying his luck again from long range.
Betfred's Sub Switch rolls your bet to the oncoming substitute, so you stay in the game, even when your player doesn’t.
Player 1+ Shots on Target (Sub Switch) - Daichi Kamada (JPN)
Considering he has scored just three times across two full seasons at Crystal Palace, failing to fire in any of his 62 Premier League appearances, two goals in as many games at the World Cup is quite some return from Japan’s Daichi Kamada.
The 29-year-old started alongside Kaishu Sano in the middle of the Samurai Blue’s midfield against the Netherlands before being pushed into a more advanced role against Tunisia, and he’s thrived in both positions.
