Scotland vs Morocco Prediction: ‘Atlas Lions’ will roar but Scotland will score

Scotland aim to make it two wins from two as they face Morocco in their second 2026 World Cup outing (5pm local, 10pm BST, ITV). Boston Stadium plays host to this Group C outing. Scotland opened their account with a 1-0 win over Haiti while 2025 AFCON winners Morocco drew their first group game 1-1 with Brazil.

The calf problem that kept Scott McKenna out of the 1-0 win over Haiti is still a concern for Steve Clarke’s side. The Dinamo Zagreb defender is a doubt for this game.
Beyond that, Scotland have a clean bill of health as they prepare for their second Group C match.
Morocco have no injury concerns and could name the same side that got a vital point against Brazil.
Scotland vs Morocco Predicted Lineups
- Scotland: Gunn; Hickey, Hendry, Hanley, Robertson; Gannon-Doak, Ferguson, McTominay, McGinn; Adams, Shankland
- Morocco: Bono; Hakimi, Diop, Riad, Mazraoui; El Aynaoui, Bouaddi; Diaz, Ounahi, El Khannouss; Saibari
Clarke’s mighty Scots are 9/2 to get the win over their accomplished, AFCON-winning opponents. Morocco are a comfortable 8/11 favourite to record their first win of this World Cup finals.
The draw is marketed at 5/2, a result that does more for the boys in blue than The Atlas Lions.

Scotland vs Morocco Stats
- Both teams have scored in four of Scotland’s last five competitive fixtures
- Morocco won 3-0 in the only previous meeting between these two sides. That match took place at France 98, Scotland’s last World Cup appearance until this year’s competition
Morocco to win and both teams to score @ 16/5
Morocco are an efficient outfit and will be imbued with extra impetus, having drawn their curtain raiser with Brazil. They are unbeaten in 30 international matches, albeit their AFCON victory was as a result of the result being reversed in controversial circumstances.
But I fancy Scotland to get on the scoresheet here. Discounting friendlies, they were on a run of four consecutive competitive games where BTTS landed before they kept a clean sheet in beating Haiti.Â
Scotland will be up for this and Morocco are far from infallible defensively. The North African side have plenty of firepower and far greater big game experience, but expect Scotland to land a blow on their way to defeat.

Lewis Ferguson to be carded (Sub Switch) @ 15/8
The Bologna midfielder was in the 90th percentile in Serie A for cards last season. Ferguson racked up a total of seven entries into the referee’s notebook.
Ferguson has a knack for incurring cautions at international level too. The 26-year-old was booked three times in five outings during World Cup qualification. Ferguson also received two bookings in two games during the 2024/25 Nations League campaign.
With Morocco offering plenty of quality and attacking penetration, I foresee Ferguson’s tackling going awry at some stage. Back the midfielder to see yellow or red at some point during proceedings.

Scotland vs Morocco Score Prediction
- Scotland 1-2 Morocco
The Tartan Army will take hope and heart from hitting the scoresheet. But Clarke’s men do not strike me as a side capable of shackling this Morocco team.
The Atlas Lions have only scored more than two goals against Burundi and Madagascar in their last 10 games, discounting the 3-0 win they were awarded retroactively in the AFCON Final.Â
With that in mind, I’m not expecting a cricket score from Mohamed Ouahbi’s charges. But they’ll do just enough to make knockout stage qualification a formality against Haiti.
