After two seasons of good profit, our 3-3-3 columnist Jamie Pacheco is back with a World Cup special edition of his 3-3-3 column, where he picks out a daily treble. He's hoping to return to some good form heading into the second week of the tournament.

He has three selections for Friday's matches starting with an even-money play in the 2AM game. Check out his selections and why below as he takes us through his World Cup Betting Tips...

For the past two years, I’ve been running the 3-3-3 column.

Here were the rules regarding how it worked.

3 - The number of different selections making up the acca.

3 - The number of different (non-English) European Leagues the selections are taken from every week.

3 - The minimum odds (3/1) or 4.0 if you prefer, that the acca will come to it every week.

And these were the column’s results over the past two years, so pretty impressive stuff.

2025-26 season Current P and L+16.5pts

2024-25 season’s P and L: +16.9pts

World Cup P and L: -1.3

There will be a special edition of the 3-3-3 column during the Group Stages of the World Cup and possibly beyond. Of course, there won’t be matches picked from three different leagues this time round as they’re all from the same competition, but there will be picks from three different matches, and they’ll always come to at least 3/1 across the acca. So we’re keeping things as close as possible to the classic 3-3-3 format.

RECAP: Wednesday’s acca didn’t even come close with neither Portugal winning their match, nor the England v Croatia game having the three cards we needed it to. In fact, there weren’t any cards at all, so we really were miles off last time out. That said, you either win or don’t win with these accas, so close calls or being way off the mark make no difference; that’s just the nature of the beast.

So let’s see how we get on with Thursday’s acca later today, and in the meantime, let’s start looking ahead to Friday’s action.

  • Mexico v South Korea
  • Friday, 19 June, 02.00
  • Back Both teams to Score @ Evens

This has been a tournament for BTTS backers so far, with 16 of the 22 games seeing goals at both ends.

That’s included two 2-2 draws, six 1-1s, and matches where a team has won comfortably but conceded in the process, such as Norway beating Iraq 4-1 and Sweden beating Tunisia 5-1.

Mexico are strong favourites here, but I make this a tighter game than those odds suggest and in a way that brings BTTS more into the equation than if I agreed Mexico should be strong favourites.

And ‘yes’ on BTTS is a regular occurrence in this fixture, as the last three ended 2-2, 3-2 and 2-1.

Mexico have scored in nine of their last 10, the exception being a 0-0 against Portugal, and in that period have put away 17 goals, so I have few doubts they won’t get at least one here.

As for Korea, they’ve scored at least once in six of their last eight and delivered a BTTS match of their own in beating Czechia in Game 1, so let’s hope they do so again.

  • USA v Australia
  • Friday, 19 June, 20.00
  • Back Over 1.5 Home team (USA) @ 8/11

USA made it pretty clear that they’re not just here to be part of the big show as hosts by beating, sorry, thrashing Paraguay 4-1  in their opening game of the competition.

They were good value for that win, showing their finishing was in fine shape on the day, given they had just six shots on target in total, scoring from four of them.

Racking up two or more goals in a game hasn’t been too much of a problem for them of late.  They managed it in four straight games between October and March, winning 2-1 twice, before a 5-1 win against Uruguay and also managing two in defeat to Belgium (5-2). There was also a 3-2 win over Senegal a few weeks ago, though we do note they failed to score against Portugal (0-0) and got just the one against Germany (1-2).

One of those 2-1 wins just mentioned above was against this very opponent, who was one of the surprise packages of the first round of games but who certainly rode their luck on the day. Turkey had 72% possession and 8 shots on target to go with 10 off target, so it’s a minor miracle they didn’t concede at least once.

They may not get away with it this time, up against confident hosts with real pace going forward, so bet accordingly.

  • Scotland v Morocco
  • Friday, 19 June, 23:00
  • Back Over 0.5 Away Goals @ 2/9

A good example of taking plenty of risks with those first two selections and not needing to do so with the third.

Morocco deserved their point against Brazil and justified their status as arguably the best of all the African teams over the last 3 or 4 years.

Only once since last December (0-0 against Oman) have Morocco failed to score in a game, so that’s 16 out of 17 when they’ve got at least one, which was a 0-0 against Nigeria at the AFCON.

That included scoring against some good sides like Ecuador, Norway, Senegal, Cameroon and as we know, Brazil.

I’m sure Scotland will put up a good fight, but a combination of the heat and Morocco’s technical style of play should see them concede at least once.

James’s Fun Fact

When we say Morocco is the best African team, we mean it. They’re currently 6th in the FIFA rankings ahead of the likes of Portugal, Germany and Belgium. The next best African team are Nigeria, who are 25th
