Hull fc vs wakefield trinity

Hull FC grabbed a much-needed win against lowly Huddersfield last week but can they clip the wings of Wakefield when the high-flying Trinity head to the MKM Stadium on Friday night? (Kick off 8pm)

Wakefield have been flying but suffered a home humbling by rampant Wigan last weekend, so is this the perfect time to ignite their season with another timely win?

Team News

Hull FC have a couple of key men back this week as they go for back-to-back wins.

Last season's top try scorer Lewis Martin is named in the 21-man squad in a big boost, with Davy Litten also in contention to return. A late call will be made on both I'm told, so it could well be a week too early.

The two men to make way from last week are youngsters Lennon Clark and Ben Johnson, as on-loan Max Wood keeps his place.

There were concerns over half-back Aiden Sezer and Lloyd Kemp this week but both should be okay after complaining of muscle tightness. Sezer came off during the Huddersfield win but that was just a precaution

The 2015 Steve Prescott Man of Steel Zak Hardaker remains absent after failing a Head Injury Assessment in the narrow defeat at Warrington two weeks ago but I'm told he'll be back next week.

Also out is Cade Cust with a shoulder issue and a host of star names including Will Pryce, John Asiata, James Bell, Sam Lisone, Ligi Sao, Brad Fash, Connor Bailey, Arthur Romano and Joe Ward while a further two players - Roman Dawson and Yusuf Aydin are suspended.

Wakefield have excelled in their outside backs this season and therefore the absence this week of England hopeful Oli Pratt and Jayden Myers represents a significant blow.

Pratt and half-back Mason Lino both missed the Wigan defeat  - the latter pulled up with a calf injury during the week that could keep him out for six weeks.

Pratt has been in sensational form but is now set for two months on the sidelines.

Jazz Tevaga is back from suspension though, while there is a first involvement this season for Kian McGann.

Hull needed that win last week, while I also just got the sense that Wakefield's great run might just run into a brick wall against Wigan.

Both of our tips landed in that respect, with the Black and Whites comfortably overcoming the 10-point start to beat Huddersfield 36-12, and Wigan proving far too strong for Trinity at Bellevue to end Wakefield's run of three straight wins.

This feels a tougher game to call. I don't for one minute think last week's defeat will trigger a downturn in fortunes for Wakefield, but they are significantly weakened by the loss of Pratt who has scored 14 Betfred Super League tries so far this season - more than any other player in this contest on Friday night.

As for Hull, they continue to be impossible to predict. Excellent in large parts of their defeat at Warrington a fortnight ago and resounding winners last week. But still very light on troops and more than capable of a calamity or two.

Logic would indicate a Wakefield win here. They have been the better side and won the home fixture 14-10 earlier on this season.

Indeed Trinity are favourites with Betfred, and the home side Hull are given a slight start of 4 points on the handicap. But I felt Trinity really lacked something without Lino and Pratt last week.

Hull have also won four of their last five games against Wakefield and despite their contrasting fortunes so far this season I just have a feeling about the Black and Whites here. If Hull are going to mount any kind of playoff push then they can't afford to be losing many more games like this against rivals at home.

If they can defend with the hunger they showed at Warrington two weeks ago then they have a chance of an upset, and I am going to go with my gut on this one that there could be a surprise.

Logan Moy Anytime Tryscorer @ 7/4

We are running our popular Betfred Super League Double Delight for this game, so if your player scores the first try of the game and then crosses for another, we will double your first tryscorer price!

Will Lewis Martin be fit to return for Hull? If he plays then Martin is Evens with Betfred to pick up where he left off and run in an anytime try.

Wakefield's England winger Tom Johnstone is available for the same price - with both players 7/1 to score the first of the game.

I'm going to go with a bit of a left-field selection this week and back Hull's Logan Moy for a score at 7/4. The full-back was very lively last week and scored Hull's first try of the game in the win over the Giants. Winger Harvey Barron is another decent option at 5/4.
