Scotland

Steve Clarke is unlikely to touch his goalkeeper or back four after they kept a clean sheet, so expect Angus Gunn to start behind Aaron Hickey, Grant Hanley, Jack Hendry and Andy Robertson.

Lewis Ferguson and Scott McTominay bring the Serie A flavour to Scotland’s midfield, flanked by goalscorer John McGinn and the extremely bright Ben Gannon-Doak. Up top, Lawrence Shankland and Che Adams may keep their places if Clarke sticks with two strikers.

He also has the option of pushing McTominay into a more attacking role and bringing Kenny McLean into midfield to sure things up a bit. I think on balance that is more likely, with Adams set to win the battle with Shankland to play the lone striker role.

One draw is all they need.

Morocco

Morocco were seriously impressive against Brazil in their 1-1 draw, and they will want to target top spot in the group and an easier route through the knockouts. Ismael Saibari scored a wonderful goal in that one and will lead the line as he gets closer to a move to Bayern Munich.

Bilal El Khannouss and Brahim Diaz will provide the threat out wide, with Chemsdine Talbi set to settle for a spot on the bench again. Azzedine Ounahi, Neil El Aynaoui and teenage superstar Ayyoub Bouaddi will play in midfield, although there is plenty of competition in this squad.

Achraf Hakimi, Issa Diop, Chadi Riad and Noussair Mazraoui will make up an unchanged back four, with Yassine Bounou.

Scotland vs Morocco Key Players:

Key Player - Scotland (Andy Robertson)

For this game, I think Scotland’s captain is going to be absolutely crucial. It would have been easy to pick McTominay who is their best player and biggest goal threat, but Robertson has a massive job on his hands trying to deal with Brahim Diaz.

The Moroccan star has torn apart many a full-back, but Robertson’s experience could allow him to win this battle. He made five defensive contributions in the opener, and will have to be at the top of his game in terms of leadership and concentration to organise his defence.

Key Player - Morocco (Ayyoub Bouaddi)

A superstar is born. That first game against Brazil was a big test for the 18-year-old Lille midfielder, and he made a big impression on the world stage. He had 87 touches, made five defensive contributions, won nine of 14 ground duels and made six ball recoveries.

He was everywhere. If he can get the better of an industrious Scotland midfield, this game should be Morocco’s for the taking.
