Austria

Das Team suffered a huge setback before the tournament as attacker Christoph Baumgartner was ruled out through injury. Ralf Rangnick called up Dejan Ljubicic as Baumgartner's replacement.

Patrick Wimmer, Florian Grillitsch and David Alaba are all injury concerns for this clash but there are indications that Alaba will be named in the starting XI against Jordan.

Rangnick may be tempted to name Romano Schmid, Marcel Sabitzer, Gregoritsch and Marko Arnautovic as his attacking quartet. The latter is Das Team's all-time top scorer with 47, and he's also made the most appearances (133).

Jordan

Jordan also had to suffer a player withdrawal before their campaign started. Ibrahim Sabra was replaced by Mohammad Taha.

The Chivalrous Ones may struggle without Yazan Al Naimat, who scored eight goals in their World Cup qualifying campaign, because of an injury that has seen him sidelined since December.

As a result, Mousa Tamari, Ali Olwan and Odeh Fakhoury could be named as Jordan's attacking trio.

Austria vs Jordan Key Players:

Marko Arnautovic (Austria)

Arnautovic has made the most appearances for Austria in history and no one has scored more goals than him. He contributed eight goals in qualifying as he continues to prove age is just a number at 37.

He's a leader in this squad and he'll be turned to for inspiration as Das Team return to the biggest stage of all. Arnuatovic will be the focal point of Austria's attack and service into him will be key against Jordan.

Musa Al-Taamari (Jordan)

As the captain of Jordan, I couldn't look past Musa Al-Taamari as their key player for this tussle with Austria. The 28-year-old is one of the few Jordan players to be playing in one of the top leagues in Europe, as he currently represents Rennes in Ligue 1 and is a regular for Les Rouges et Noirs.

The winger is capable of scoring goals just as well as creating them. His speed and fancy footwork can certainly ask questions of Austria, and if anyone can inspire the Chivalrous Ones to a result in Santa Clara, it's him.
