European champions Spain are out to add a second World Cup title to their honours list in 2026, and they begin their assault against Cape Verde in Group H on Monday at the Mercedes-Benz Arena (12pm local, 5pm BST, live on ITV1).

The archipelago nation on the other side of the field are competing at this level for the first time, and it may not be pretty in their tournament debut. Below I have picked out a 11.36/1 four-fold for my Spain vs Cape Verde Bet Builder tips.

Spain vs Cape Verde Odds

Spain to Win Both Halves

There’s simply no point in adding Spain to win at 1/10 to any bet – although you are, of course, welcome to do so.

What I think is a better value pick is to go with La Roja to win both halves. The Euro 2024 winners ought to take control early and maintain the dominance throughout.

Luis de la Fuente’s side won five of their six qualifiers for the World Cup, and in four of those they were up on the scoreboard in both halves.

That trend should continue in Atlanta.

Over 3.5 Total Goals

This will be – and already is, on early evidence – a tournament full of drama, controversy, cards and goals.

The latter ought to be in plentiful supply for the 2010 winners on Monday having racked up two 4-0 wins (against Bulgaria and Georgia) and a 6-0 success in Turkey on their way to the finals over the last year.

So it feels a safe bet to back at least four efforts finding their target in the Group H opener.

Both Teams to Score - No

Great as it is to see new names competing at the World Cup finals, the expansion of the tournament is potentially inviting a few thrashings to occur on the global stage, with Germany’s hammering of Curacao a case in point.

Cape Verde’s biggest task might be attempting to keep the score down, and so attacks are likely to be rare at Spain’s end of the field. I don’t see them getting the goal Curacao managed on Sunday.

Mikel Oyarzabal to Score 2 or More Goals

While I am very tempted to make the most of Betfred’s Sub Switch feature attached to the Player Shots market, on this occasion I’m going more adventurous and backing goals.

Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal scored five in qualifying and was on the mark last week in the friendly win over Peru.

He’s taken his international tally to 25 in 53 appearances and is coming off the back of his best La Liga season in front of goal, netting 15 times for La Real.

The 29-year-old also scored from the spot as his club side lifted the Copa del Rey with victory over Atletico Madrid, so he is in the form of his life arriving at the World Cup.

With the number of chances that should be available to La Roja, one has to believe Oyarzabal will get plenty of opportunities to add to his recent form so multiple goals could well be on the cards.
