Haiti vs Scotland Prediction: Tartan Army to start their campaign strongly

It's been 28 years but Scotland are back at the FIFA World Cup finals. The Tartan Army start their Group C campaign against debutants Haiti at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Saturday at 9pm local time but 2am BST on Sunday (ITV1).
In a group that features five-time champions Brazil and Africa champions Morocco, there's a lot of pressure on Scotland for this first game. Read on for my Haiti vs Scotland predictions, alongside the latest match odds from Betfred and team news.

Team News
Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor is expected to lead the line for Haiti, while Wolves' Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is set for a starting spot in the midfield.
Goalkeeper Johny Placide is a leader for the Grenadiers and he's expected to be very busy given who Haiti's opponents are in Group C.
Scotland boss Steve Clarke has been praising the work of Che Adams and believes that the striker's efforts are underappreciated. He seems destined to start in Foxborough, likely alongside Lawrence Shankland.
Scott McTominay has become the poster boy of the Tartan Army and he's set to feature in an advanced midfield role, while John McGinn is expected to do most of the work in the engine room.
Haiti vs Scotland Predicted Lineups
- Haiti: Placide; Ade, Duverne, Arcus, Paugain; Jean Jacques, Leverton Pierre; Deedson, Bellegarde, Providence; Isidor
- Scotland: Gunn; Hickey, Souttar, Hanley, Robertson; Gannon-Doak, McTominay, Christie, McGinn; Shankland, Adams
Haiti are 11/2 to mark their World Cup debut with a win. One of their last three outings finished level against Iceland, with the stalemate here on offer at 3/1.
Scotland are the 8/15 favourites to come out on top and they have won successive games against Curacao and Bolivia. McTominay is 15/8 to score with Sub Switch.

Haiti vs Scotland Stats
- Scotland have won 6 of their last 9 games
- Che Adams scored 6 goals in Serie A last season
- Adams has 13 goals in 47 appearances for the Tartan Army, including a brace against Bolivia last time out
To Win To Nil - Scotland @ 13/10
Scotland have waited almost three decades for this moment and they won't want to waste the opportunity in front of them. They've been dealt a tough hand in Group C, and by having the easiest opponent first, this may add an extra degree of pressure.
However, Clarke and his players have known what they're doing for several years now, and I think they won't lose focus against Haiti. The Tartan Army have demonstrated their attacking intent with four-goal showings against both Curacao and Bolivia, so I fear for Haiti's defence.
I like the look of Scotland winning to nil at 13/10 (implied probability of 43.5%) as it offers stronger value than their Match Result price.

Anytime Goalscorer - Che Adams @ 7/5
After scoring a brace against Bolivia last time out, I think Adams looks primed to take on a starring role for Scotland at the World Cup. The Torino front man bagged six goals in Serie A last term, and he's one of three Scotland players plying their trade in Italy.
Adams has 13 goals in 47 appearances for Scotland to date but he's yet to score in a major tournament. I believe he will get his moment on Sunday in Massachusetts.

Haiti vs Scotland Score Prediction
- Haiti 0-3 Scotland
Two strong performances in recent friendlies have shown that Scotland have the tools to score plenty of goals and I can see this trend continuing in their opener against Haiti.
A strong goal difference could help them in their bid to reach the knockout stage, while add to their momentum before they face Morocco and Brazil.
