Bulldogs vs Eels Prediction: Crichton to cross but Parrra are the pick

A pair of struggling giants in Australian rugby league meet on Monday at Accor Stadium when third-bottom Canterbury Bulldogs host second-bottom Parramatta Eels (4:05pm local, 7:05am BST, Watch NRL).
The Dogs’ 2-8 form goes up against Parramatta’s run of two in nine as coaches Cameron Ciraldo and Jason Ryles look to release some of the pressure on their shoulders. My Bulldogs vs Eels predictions follow, along with the latest team news and match odds from Betfred.
Bulldogs vs Eels Betting Tips
*odds correct at time of publishing
Betfred has the Bulldogs as favourites, with Canterbury 8/15 for the win in 80 minutes. That implies a probability of 65.2%. The Eels in normal time are a 17/10 pick, with a tie 14/1.
Team News
The Dogs went down 22-16 to the Tigers in Round 13, but Ciraldo makes only one change to the starting XIII.
Kurt Mann drops out, with Bailey Hayward coming in to start at hooker. Jacon Kiraz is fit to start at full-back having been a huge doubt throughout the week. Stephen Crichton is also named despite carrying a shoulder issue.
The only change for Parra is also at hooker, where Tallyn De Silva is set to start in place of Harrison Edwards, although the same was set to be the case at Newcastle last week until a gameday switch.
Ronald Volkman and Joash Papali’i will start in the halves, with Mitchell Moses still out with hamstring trouble.
Eels by 1-12 @ 3/1
It’s hard to back either of these two sides with any degree of confidence. The Eels’ struggles are little surprise to most, while the Dogs have found things difficult since their two-from-two start to the campaign.
Parra came good when they last met back in April, triumphing 38-20 at CommBank, and I think the Eels can come out on top again here.
The Bulldogs are a ridiculous side right now, having beaten the runaway league-leading Panthers and the Storm, who were Grand Finalists last year, but lost every other game in the last 10 rounds.
As such, I’m on them to get done by a narrow margin by an Eels side who, when they’re in games they can win them.

Stephen Crichton Anytime Tryscorer @ 6/4
Skipper Crichton should make the starting lineup for the Dogs, and if he does I like the look of the 6/4 about him crossing for a try.
Canterbury are dangerous on the edges, and the Samoa international has the sort of threat that could cause the Eels issues.
The 40% implied probability looks light in what ought to be a fairly open, high-scoring fixture.
