Manly are just ahead of the Rabbitohs in the table in fifth, thanks to their superior points difference, but South Sydney have played one game fewer than their hosts and will look to build some momentum this weekend.

In the first round back after the first game of the 2026 State of Origin, both teams will be desperate to lay down a marker in what is traditionally a close battle, with both teams winning 23 games in the 46 meetings since 1998.

Sea Eagles vs Rabbitohs Odds

Manly have been installed as 4/6 favourites for Thursday's encounter, while the draw is 14/1. South Sydney are 11/8 to prevail on the road.

A home win and over 51.5 points has been boosted to 9/4 from 2/1, while Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston is the favourite to score anytime at 4/9.

Team News

Sea Eagles superstar Tom Trbojevic is sidelined, but forward Haumole Olakau'atu returns after a rest last week, while Tolu Koula has been cleared to play from the NRL after a head clash in Origin.

Rugby League Odds

Rabbitohs ace Latrell Mitchell remains sidelined in what is a huge blow for the visitors, but powerful prop David Fifita has been named in the squad and is expected to make his first appearance since Round 6 after he recovered from a hamstring injury.

Hooker Brandon Smith is set to bounce back from a calf injury, as is Campbell Graham. Jye Gray reclaims the full-back spot, meaning Matt Dufty drops to the bench.

Adam Elliott is expected to miss the rest of the season, while Talanoa Penitani is sidelined for up to three months with a hamstring injury.

Manly Sea Eagles -4 @ EVS

Both teams have a point to prove after losing last week. The Sea Eagles were beaten 28-22 by Cronulla Sharks, while the Rabbitohs extended their losing streak to two games after falling to a 30-18 defeat to North Queensland Cowboys.

Manly have been more consistent at home, winning three in a row and conceding 10 points or fewer in two of those ties. The Bunnies have lost three in four away from home, conceding 30 points or more on two occasions and it looks like they will struggle again.

They struggle to click in attack without the brilliance of Mitchell and the Sea Eagles have proven they are consistent at home.

Clayton Faulalo to score anytime @ 10/11

The injury to Trbojevic should be hitting Manly hard, but they have won four of their six games without him.

Backup full-back Clayton Faulalo had only played 11 NRL matches before this season, but he has scored five tries in his last six outings.

His ability to find space and his blistering speed have helped him open gaps and he can punish South Sydney's struggling defence.
