Sharks vs dragons

Having finally got off the schneid last week, the St George Illawarra Dragons are looking for a second win of the NRL Premiership season when they meet the Cronulla Sharks at Shark Park on Sunday (4:05pm local, 7:05am BST, Watch NRL).

The rock-bottom Dragons beat champions Brisbane in Round 13, ending a 15-game losing run stretching back to August 2025. My Sharks vs Dragons predictions are below with the two sides’ latest team news and match odds from Betfred.

Sharks vs Dragons Betting Tips

  • Sharks Over 32.5 Points @ 21/20
  • Will Kennedy Anytime Tryscorer @ 11/10

Sharks vs Dragons Odds

Betfred isn’t expecting another Dragons upset win, with Cronulla huge favourites at 1/3. St George are 12/5, while it’s 18/1 about the draw.

Team News

There’s no KL Iro, Sione Katoa, Nicho Nynes or Blayke Brailey for the Sharks. But Briton Nikora is back in at second row following Origin duty with New South Wales.

Jayden Berrell replaces Brailey at hooker, with Billy Burns dropping to the bench to make way for Nikora.

Rugby League Odds

Dragons coach Dean Young names the same 13 that brought him just his second win in 11 NRL games over two spells in charge.

Jacob Liddle’s return from a hamstring issue makes him good for a spot on the bench, but Jaydn Su’A doesn’t make the 19 despite being close to full recovery from a calf problem.

Tyrell Sloan is not included in the matchday squad having been among the 19 last week.

Sharks Over 32.5 Points @ 21/20

Last week’s Broncos-Dragons turn-up was just the kind of result that can leave eggs on faces across the rugby league fraternity. But I simply don’t see lightning striking twice here.

The Sharks are coming off the back of an impressive win over the high-flying Sea Eagles nine days ago, and they have to back themselves for another two competition points.

With no Iro, Hynes and Nikora last Friday, it would have been easy for Cronulla’s remaining players to down tools. But instead they showed the quality they have in depth.

And that should shine through again this week with a bucketload of points.

Will Kennedy Anytime Tryscorer @ 11/10

Having signed a new contract with the Sharks amid rumours of Betfred Super League interest, Will Kennedy should come into Sunday’s fixture buoyed by the stability his decision will offer him.

And he’s gone well this season too, crossing for five tries in 11 appearances, meaning the 11/10 about him scoring at any time against the basement-dwelling Dragons offers a great deal of value.
