After crashing out of the group stage at the past two editions of the FIFA World Cup, 2014 champions Germany will be hoping to show the world that they are still a force to be reckoned with this summer. Die Nationalelf host Finland for a friendly on Sunday (8:45pm local/7:45pm BST) in Mainz.

This is the first meeting in almost a decade and below I have put together my Germany vs Finland predictions, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Germany vs Finland Betting Tips

  • Handicap +2 - Germany -2 @ 1/1
  • Anytime Goalscorer - Deniz Undav @ 8/13

*Odds correct as of the time of publication

Team News

Manuel Neuer is back in the fold for Germany and the 40-year-old goalkeeper is going to be the first-choice goalkeeper for Die Nationalelf at the World Cup.

Boss Julian Nagelsmann has several options for his centre-back pairing in North America, but we could see Jonathan Tah and Nico Schlotterbeck partner up against Finland.

Kai Havertz won't join up with the national team yet due to Arsenal's participation in the UEFA Champions League final.

Football Odds

Oliver Antman is set to feature in the final third for Finland, alongside Joel Pohjanpalo.

Germany vs Finland Predicted Lineups

  • Germany: Neuer; Kimmich, Tah, Schlotterbeck, Raum; Nmecha, Pavlovic; Musiala, Goretzka, Wirtz; Havertz
  • Finland: Hradecky; Keskinen, Koski, Tenho, Lahteenmaki; Markhiev, Peltola, Walta; Jukkola, Pohjanpolo, Antman

Germany vs Finland Odds

Betfred have Germany as the heavy 1/7 favourites to win this match.

Four of the past five meetings have been draws and the stalemate here can be backed at 13/2.

Finland are a 12/1 shot to come away with the victory.

Two of Germany's past three games have gone Over 3.5 Goals, which is valued at 4/5 on this occasion.

Germany vs Finland Stats

  • Germany have won 2 of their last 3 home games with a -2 handicap
  • The hosts have scored 4-plus goals in 3 of their past 6 fixtures
  • Deniz Undav has scored 4 goals in 7 appearances for Germany

Handicap +2 - Germany -2 @ 1/1

After two premature exits at the World Cup, Germany will want to avoid further humiliation this summer. This friendly will be seen as a good exercise with the tournament getting underway in less than two weeks.

In front of a home crowd, I'm expecting Germany to take control of this clash early. With the attacking options Nagelsmann has at his disposal, I think that the hosts are capable of outscoring their opponents, so I'm drawn to the -2 handicap market at EVS (implied probability of 50%).

This has been a winning selection in two of Germany's last three home games, so I see this trend continuing here.

Germany vs Finland - Handicap +2
Germany -2

Anytime Goalscorer - Deniz Undav @ 8/13

Deniz Undav has been one of the best goalscorers in the Bundesliga over the past three seasons. Only Harry Kane scored more times (36) than the VfB Stuttgart front man (19) this term.

His total came across 29 appearances which was most impressive. He could be an important player for Germany at the World Cup, and he has four goals in seven appearances for his country to date. I'm backing him to find the net here, and Betfred have him as the favourite to do so.
