A long season in the Australian A-League Men’s concludes this Saturday (8:10pm local, 9:10am BST, TNT Sports 2) at Go Media Stadium, where hosts Auckland FC take on Sydney FC in the Grand Final.
Below are my Auckland vs Sydney predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Oli Sail (knee), Guillermo May (ankle) and Marlee Francois (foot) are all ruled out for Steve Corica’s Auckland due to injury.
Chilean midfielder Felipe Gallegos has missed the Black Knights’ last three games with a hamstring issue, but a late call will be made over his availability for Saturday’s Grand Final.
After missing out for the last three weeks with a hamstring injury, Al Hassan Toure returns to Patrick Kisnorbo’s extended squad for Saturday’s game alongside Corey Hollman.
The Sky Blues are at full strength, with no injuries reported.
Auckland vs Sydney Predicted Lineups
- Auckland: Woud; Sakai, Girdwood-Reich, Hall, Pijnaker, Elliot; Brook, Verstraete, Howieson, Randall; Cosgrove
- Sydney: Devenish-Meares; R. Grant, Popovic, Courtney-Perkins, Garuccio; Kamijo, Okon-Engstler; Akon, Quintal, Quispe; Stamatelopoulos
Head-to-head record
Auckland and Sydney have faced off six times since the Black Knights’ formation in 2024, five times in the ALM and once in the Australia Cup quarter-finals.
The Sky Blues have never tasted success in this fixture, losing twice and drawing the other four, although one of those stalemates, in the cup, saw them lose 3-1 on penalties.
All three of their head-to-heads this league season have come in 2026, with Auckland triumphing 1-0 at Go Media on 7 February before playing out draws at Allianz Stadium on 17 February (1-1) and 26 April (2-2).
Auckland are 21/20 to triumph in regulation time, implying a 48.8% probability of success, while Sydney are 12/5, or a 29.4% chance, to win in 90 minutes.
The draw, which would send the tie to extra-time, is priced at 23/10, with the Black Knights and Sky Blues 8/15 and 11/8, respectively, in the To Win Tie market.
Auckland vs Sydney Stats
- Cosgrove has received eight yellows in 28 ALM apps this season, including one in a 1-1 draw at SYD
- Four of the six H2Hs have gone under 2.5 goals
- Seven of SYD's eight games under Kisnorbo have featured two or fewer goals
Bet Builder - Sam Cosgrove (AKL) Carded & Auckland or Draw @ 11/4
Auckland striker Sam Cosgrove has received seven yellow cards in 28 ALM appearances this season, including one in two semi-final outings against Adelaide United earlier this month.
The 29-year-old has been booked once against Sydney this season, in February's 1-1 draw at Allianz Stadium, and across their three league meetings, he's committed a combined six fouls.
With no suspensions to worry about for the rest of the campaign, I'm expecting Cosgrove to be as physical as ever on Saturday, looking to bully his markers.
I'm adding in Auckland or Draw on the Double Chance, too, as the Sky Blues have never beaten the Black Knights, and aren't fancied to do so on New Zealand soil this weekend.
Total Goals - Under 2.5 @ 4/5
Seven of Sydney's eight games under the tutelage of Kisnorbo have gone under 2.5 goals, with the only outlier a 2-2 draw with Auckland on 26 April.
However, that was an end-of-season match with much less on the line, and May, who scored both of the Black Knights' goals that day, won't be featuring this time around due to injury.
Auckland drew their next two games 1-1 before beating Adelaide 3-0 in the second leg of their semi-final tie on 15 May, while Sydney beat Melbourne Victory 1-0 in the Elimination Final before playing out a couple of 1-1 draws in the semi-finals, overcoming Newcastle Jets on penalties.
Four of the six head-to-heads have gone under 2.5 goals, and that looks like the smart play again here.
