Hearts vs Hibs Prediction: 5/1 boost for end-to-end battle at Tynecastle

One of the biggest Edinburgh derbies in recent times takes place on Tuesday when Hearts host Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership at Tynecastle (20:00 GMT, live on Premier Sports 1).
The Jambos have seen their lead at the top of the table narrowed to three points recently and they owe their city rivals one after their 3-2 reverse at Christmas. Read on for my Hearts vs Hibs predictions, full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Team News
Derek McInnes’ squad is as badly hit as it has been at any point this season so far.
Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin remain out injured, while there’s also no Stephen Kingsley, Calum Nieuwenhof and Findlay Pollock.
Craig Halkett is suspended following his red card in the 1-0 loss at St Mirren.
Grant Hanley misses out for Hibs after he limped out of the 0-0 draw with Rangers at Easter Road. Chris Cadden, Warren O’Hara and Josh Mulligan are also unavailable to manager David Gray.
Hearts vs Hibs Predicted Lineups
- Hearts: Schwolow; Steinwender, Kent, Findlay, Milne; McEntee, Baningime, Leonard, Kyziridis; Kabore, Braga
- Hibs: Sallinger; Garananga, Kiranga, Iredale; Passlack, Chaiwa, Barlaser, N Cadden; Boyle, Scarlett, Youan
As league leaders and hosts, Hearts are the favourites. They’re 9/10 to claim a second home victory over their nearest and dearest in 2025/26.
Hibs are 16/5 to follow up their December victory with another blow to Hearts’ title bid, while it’s 12/5 about the draw.
If you fancy Both Teams to Score, you can back that at 4/5. That implies a 55.6% probability.
Hearts vs Hibs Stats
- 7 of the last 9 Edinburgh derbies have seen both teams score
- There have been a total of 46 cards shown in the 12 meetings between this pair since the beginning of 2023
- While none of the last 4 derbies have been drawn, 4 of the previous 5 finished level
Price Boost: Both Teams to Score, Both Teams 4+ Corners & Both Teams 2+ Cards @ 4/1 5/1
There’s all sorts going on with these two clubs at the minute, and it just feels like another chaotic derby could be on the cards.
After claiming the spoils on home territory over the Christmas period, Hibs will be hopeful of doing the same again at Tynecastle.
These clashes are rarely short of blood and thunder, so the 5/1 available for both sides to score and each to rack up a couple of cards as well as earning four corners looks like real value.

Draw @ 12/5
Until recently, I’d have been lumping on Hearts.
But that defeat to St Mirren felt like it had been coming to some extent, and Craig Halkett’s suspension compounds a few issues for McInnes right now.
With no Shankland or Devlin, the last thing the Jam Tarts’ boss needs is his best centre-half missing as well. Especially with their city rivals coming to town.
Hibs dominated Rangers just nine days ago and should have had far more out of that match than the point they took. And then last Wednesday they showed real guts to come from behind in the final moments to nick a 3-2 win from Dundee United.
This will be hard fought, both teams will have their periods on top, and ultimately they might just end up having to shakes hands on a draw when all is said and done.
I love the look of the 12/5 price here at an implied 29.4%.
