Aston Villa vs Everton Prediction: Home side to win high-scoring encounter

Mixed fortunes in the FA Cup last weekend, same fortunes in their previous respective Premier League outings. Aston Villa looking to build on their narrow win at Spurs last Saturday, Everton looking to bounce back after being dumped out of the competition by fellow top tier outfit Sunderland.
Villa held at Crystal Palace in their last league showing, the gap to Arsenal stays at six thanks to Liverpool doing Unai Emery's men a favour at the Emirates. While the Toffees finished their clash with Wolves with only nine men and were it not for Jordan Pickford, their share of the points would have gone back to Molineux instead. Let's preview the action and check out Dan Tracey's Aston Villa vs Everton Predictions for the Sky Sports Super Sunday clash...

Team News
Before the visit of Everton on Sunday, the Aston Villa medical team are going to be put to work. Emi Martinez is once again a doubt after being subbed off in the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, his chances of starting against the Toffees is currently reported as 50/50.
Heads or tails in terms of the Argentine's inclusion but still better odds than two of his teammates who play in midfield. With Amadou Onana already suffering an injury, the Belgian may be rested with Thursday night's Europa League action in mind and he will join Boubacar Kamara on the sidelines.
As for Everton, they must make do without Michael Keane due to suspension. The defender earned a red card in the recent 1-1 draw with Wolves and is set to be replaced by Jake O'Brien at centre half. Certainly a blow for David Moyes and not the only bad news he may have to deal with.
Like Villa, the Toffees also have their own set of injury doubts in the middle of the park. Both Tim Iroegbunam and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have question marks over their availability. If one of them is to pass a fitness test, the likelihood is that it will be the former who started his career at Villa Park.

Aston Villa vs Everton Stats
- Aston Villa have seen over 2.5 goals in their last five home matches against Everton in all competitions.
- Aston Villa are undefeated in 13 of their last 14 matches against Everton in all competitions
Aston Villa Win & Under 2.5 Goals @ 13/8
If you read the stats above, all signs point to a home win and over 2.5 goals in total. However, with Everton's lack of goal threat, I am not too sure as to whether three or more ends up being the magic number on Sunday. I back Aston Villa win but I would not back them to win at a canter.
Unai Emery's men are averaging 1.57 goals per game in the Premier League this season, Everton's goals against per game currently registers at 1.19. Add the fact that the Toffees average less than a goal a game when on the road and the numbers do not stack up for me. 1-0 or 2-0 is how I see this one panning out.

Ollie Watkins To Score Anytime @ 6/5
With Donyall Malen joining Roma, Ollie Watkins' mantle as the undisputed centre forward at Villa Park is further solidified (that is until Tammy Abraham completes a return to the club) and with the England international looking to secure a place on Thomas Tuchel's World Cup plane, he will keen to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.
The former Brentford forward has scored just seven league goals this season but has crafted something of a purple patch in recent weeks. Four goals in as many games – even with a blank at Crystal Palace last time out, indicates the 'old' Watkins is back and I fancy him to score against Everton.
