Horse Racing Tips: Wait no longer to get off the mark

There’s a good card at Market Rasen on Friday, where the good to soft ground has attracted plenty of runners. The seven-race card kicks off at 12:18 and includes a Class 2 veterans’ chase and a Listed Mares’ bumper.
Among our horse racing tips for meeting is a six-year-old who can show the benefit of his wind op on this second start since the procedure.

12:18 Market Rasen - Shan't Wait @ 4/1
Charlie Longsdon’s six-year-old SHAN’T WAIT showed plenty of benefit from a wind operation prior to his last run at Southwell in December, and if he steps forward from that, he’ll take all the beating in this field.
A weak finisher in handicaps before that effort, he looked to have turned a corner in no uncertain terms when running a thriving and progressive rival very close that day in conditions similar to those he’ll get at Market Rasen.
The handicapper was clearly impressed as the winner was raised 10lb for his efforts, so the 5lb that the selection has been put up for being beaten 3/4l doesn’t look too harsh.
Remaining in a 0-100 should prove advantageous, as will Daire McConville’s 3lb claim in this conditional jockeys’ event.

14:05 Market Rasen - Two For Gold @ 22/1
This veteran’s chase represents the easiest task for a while for the Bailey/Nicholls teenager, TWO FOR GOLD, and if he can repeat the form of his final run of the 2024/25 season, he should have every chance of notching a 12th career win.
His last three wins came off marks in the 150s, so even at his advanced years, a rating of 142 looks workable, especially given that run last March came off a mark 5lb higher than he’ll be on Friday.
In two runs this year, he hasn’t appeared to be declining too much. He was sixth under top weight in a Premier Handicap at Ascot on the first of them, and then returned to Ascot in another Premier Handicap, where he was eased when his chance had gone entering the home straight.
That came on rain-softened ground, and a return to shorter coupled with less draining ground and in a less taxing race could see him return to the winner’s enclosure for his in-form team.

15:45 Market Rasen - Get Up Mush @ 9/1
He’s clearly had some problems recently, but Dan Skelton’s still-only-eight-year-old GET UP MUSH ran an eye-catching race on his reappearance at Wetherby on Boxing Day, and with conditions set to suit better this week, he can get back on the scoresheet.
He was in fine form in his first season over fences in the summer of 2024, notching three wins in his first five chases, culminating in a commanding success in a Class 3 in September of that year.
He is now 4lb higher than for that win, but was originally raised 7lb for that success, the lesser rating a result of his subsequent absence.
Whatever the reason for missing games, he looked to have retained plenty of ability in his Wetherby start, jumping and travelling well before being given an easy time of it when his chance was gone late on.
That run was over short of 2 ½ miles on soft ground, whereas today’s trip of three miles on good to soft closely aligns with his Class 3 victory.
