Football bet of the day

I think I’ve stumbled upon some serious value for Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day. As many of you know, I am a big fan of the EFL in general, and there’s one game from League 1 that has caught my attention.

Read on for Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Peterborough United vs Port Vale Odds

Port Vale are absolutely abysmal this term, and it’s quite staggering to believe that at the time of writing, they are pretty strong favourites to win this game against Peterborough United (15:00 GMT). Vale sit bottom of the League 1 table, by some margin.

They have amassed just 15 points from 19 league outings this term, and Darren Moore’s men are in serious danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. They’ve won just three league matches this term and their lack of cutting edge is looking likely to send them down to the fourth tier.

They have scored just 13 goals in 19 games, so you can obviously see the extent of their struggles, as Moore - who came in with a big reputation - is failing to get the Valiants moving in the right direction since promotion. They finished second in League 2 last term, but have seriously underestimated the step up between these two divisions.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Port Vale have scored just 13 goals in 19 league games
  • Vale sit bottom of the league with 15 points
  • Posh have won four and drawn two of their last six

It means I’m usually happy to side against them, and this weekend is no different as they host an in-form Peterborough United outfit. One look at the table would suggest this game may be a close-run thing, given Posh sit in 19th with just 22 points to their name. However, United were shocking at the start of the season and were languishing in the bottom four before they made the decision to replace Darren Ferguson with Luke Williams.

The former Swansea City boss has come in and turned their fortune around, winning six of his 10 games in charge. They’ve won four of their last six in League, which makes them the third-best form team in the league, only behind promotion contenders Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers.

They’ve won their last two outings by a scoreline of two goals to one, with Harry Leonard in flying form having scored four goals in his last three league appearances. Vale secured back-to-back cup wins before earning a 2-2 draw at Luton Town, but I don’t think this season holds much promise for them, despite their recent upturn in form in all competitions.

Posh have proven themselves to be a strong team under Williams, who is a manager that I like an awful lot. I think there’s massive value available in backing them to heap the misery on Port Vale on Saturday afternoon.
