Arsenal (A) to beat Everton @ 8/13

I’m on the Arsenal Premier League train this season and despite losing to Aston Villa and edging past Wolves in their last two league outings, I do think they will win this one more convincingly. The Gunners were excellent in their 3-0 win over Club Brugge and I’m expecting Mikel Arteta to get things right against the club he used to play for.

David Moyes has seen his side lose two and win two of their last four, and that lack of consistency could cost them here.

Derby (H) to beat Portsmouth @ 1/1

Derby County got a big win at Sheffield Wednesday on Monday night and that should get them back on track. They’ve won seven of their last 11 games and look like they could be play-off contenders, with this game in particular looking favourable.

Portsmouth beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at home but they have the worst away form in the league, picking up just one win and six points from nine games on the road. I think they will lose this one as well.

Sheffield United (H) to beat Birmingham @ 13/8

Talking of poor away form, what on earth are Birmingham City playing at this season? At home they are a top team, having won six out of 10 at St Andrew’s - but on the road they have amassed just eight points from 11 outings, which has massively hampered their promotion hopes.

Sheffield United lost away at West Brom last time out, but have improved lately under Chris Wilder, winning four of their last six and they haven’t conceded in their last three Bramall Lane fixtures. They should be able to get past this underwhelming Blues outfit.

Middlesbrough (A) to beat Bristol City @ 6/4

My good pal Jonny from Boro Breakdown has got me drinking the Kim Hellberg Kool-Aid. Four wins out of four for the new manager has got the Boro fans dreaming of promotion, and they are now just five points behind league leaders Coventry.

Their showing against QPR was seriously impressive, with a new narrow 4-2-2-2 formation getting the best out of the players that they have. Bristol City aren’t a bad outfit, but this is all about the visitors. I think they can make serious progress towards promotion over the next month or so.

Peterborough United (A) to beat Port Vale @ 11/5

This feels like massive value as we drop down to League 1. Port Vale sit bottom of the league and bottom of the current form table, so backing against them at a massive price makes sense to me. Darren Moore has been unable to produce the goods this term and with just three wins from 19, they are in danger of being cut adrift.

Meanwhile, Peterborough United had a shocking start to the campaign but Luke Williams has come in and done a terrific job so far. Posh sit third in the form table over the past six games having won four and lost two, a run that has taken them out of the relegation zone and up to 19th. They can heap the misery on Vale on Saturday.
