20:03 Mahoning Valley (Race 7) - Thanks Frank @ SP
Dream On Baby (3) won at Fort Erie in October. He made it back-to-back victories when taking a restricted claimer on his local debut a month later. The third gave the form of that race a boost when scoring next time. The speed figures he’s been running suggests he’s well up to an open claimer for today’s price. His trainer has sent out nothing but live runners with the team he’s sent from Canada. The runner to fear.
A trio of these filled the places in a similar event here last month. Stay Thirsty Amigo (6) and Time the Avenger (4) finished second and third. Both seemed beneficiaries of fast and contested fractions, particularly the first named. The fourth Thanks Frank (1) paid the price in deep stretch for pressing that torrid pace. There may be little competition for the early lead here. He wired a field over course and distance prior to that when setting his own tempo. The rail drawn runner looks very playable.
Harvard (5) won back to back claimers for today’s price before fading in a higher priced claimer than today’s. All his form is over a mile or more. He’s not slow by any means so the class dropper may be capable of running his race over six furlongs. Flat Lucky (2) is a proven sprinter but is inconsistent. The veteran would win this race for fun if he repeats his eight length Mountaineer score in September.
I'll Figure It Out (7) is on a hat-trick but gets a class test. The six year is too sharp to ignore.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
20:35 Aqueduct (Race 7) - Time to Roll @ SP
Pantherian (2) made a fine debut over six-and-a-half furlongs here in late October. The $750,000 breeze up sales purchase attended the pace but was nabbed near the winning line by Wamo (3). He was awarded the race in the stewards’ room as the first past the post ‘herded ‘him out late on.
He was backed to odds on so it will be interesting to see how much improvement there is in him second time out. There should be some and he has almost in one start has ran as fast any of these. Flavien Prat now takes the ride. He was aboard Wamo (3) when he made up for that disqualification last month. He is progressing with racing and is obviously closely matched with Pantherian (2).
Pantherian (2) will likely be well bet if not overbet. There are alternatives like Wamo (3), another last time out maiden breaker and some runners dropping in class from stakes events. In the last named category are Gaming Wizard (5) and Time to Roll (7).
The pair ran fourth and fifth respectively in a deep looking event over a mile here last time. They attended quick fractions whereas the first two came from off the pace. Both runners could be suited by cutting back to today’s distance. The dam of Time to Roll (7) was a sprinter so seven furlongs could bring out some improvement. He may be the play at the odds.
Top Player (6) is improving, breaking his maiden over course and distance in October. There may be better to come from him. He’s an easier read than Lawyer Mason (1) and Cristobal (4). The pair get class relief from stakes but have only ever raced on turf. The rail drawn runner races in blinkers first time and goes for a red hot trainer.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
