AC Milan vs Lazio Prediction: 9/4 for visitors to go down without a fight

A ridiculous Serie A title race has seen Roma become the fifth team reach the summit in 12 rounds, and AC Milan could return to the summit on Saturday when they host Lazio at San Siro (20:45 local, 19:45 GMT, live on Betfred.com and DAZN).
The Rossoneri’s narrow victory in the Derby della Madonnina means they are just two points behind leaders Roma heading into this one. Below are my AC Milan vs Lazio predictions, alongside the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Team News
Derby-winner Christian Pulisic and winger Alexis Saelemaekers both missed training during the week, leaving their readiness for Saturday’s game in doubt.
Initial reports suggested the American’s was the most pressing injury concern, with Saelemaekers potentially free to play.
Santi Gimenez is unavailable to head coach Max Allegri due to a persistent ankle issue, with Zachary Athekame still awaiting the all-clear following a calf injury he picked up on international duty.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is fit again for Lazio having missed eight games with a hamstring injury sustained in the Derby della Capitale loss to Roma in September.
However, Maurizio Sarri could keep him in reserve rather than rush him back, especially with a busy Afcon coming up for the Nigeria international.
Elsewhere, Danilo Cataldi was expected to undergo extra tests late in the week after reports he was likely to sit out a significant period with a leg muscle strain.
AC Milan vs Lazio Predicted Lineups
- Milan: Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Nkunku, Leao
- Lazio: Provedel; Lazzari, Patric, Romagnoli, Marusic; Guendouzi, Vecino, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni
Milan are the big 3/5 favourites, making a home win an implied 62.5% probability. The visitors, conversely, are a 5/1 shout, with 11/4 about the draw with Betfred.
It’s 10/11 for both teams to score, while Pulisic and Rafael Leao are both 4/1 to break the deadlock at San Siro.
AC Milan vs Lazio Stats
- Milan are unbeaten since the 2-1 home loss to Cremonese on matchday one and have won six of seven at San Siro (D1)
- Lazio have won only one of six matches on the road in Serie A, losing three and drawing two
- Only once this season (3-3 v Torino, MD6) have Lazio been involved in a game in which both teams have scored
- In their respective last four Serie A matches, Milan have received six yellow cards and Lazio four
Milan to Win to Nil @ 6/4
Lazio were last at the Meazza just 20 days ago and, then as now, I backed them to lose to nil.
Given the record of them having only been involved in a single BTTS encounter this season, I have to go with another fruitless night for the Biancocelesti.
Sarri has them largely set up well, but they just can’t break teams down on the road and Milan are in great form at La Scala del Calcio.
Therefore, I’m on the same bet at 6/4 this time. And a Milan win would see them top again for 24 hours at least.

20-35 Booking Points @ 9/4
These two haven’t exactly been kicking opponents up in the air with great regularity this season.
Only Youssef Fofana of Milan and Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi have collected more than a pair of yellows thus far, and the two clubs’ recent games have continued to feature a fairly clean slate.
So I can well see this match passing by without too many incidents, with fewer than 40 points (equal to four bookings) likely. The 20-35 bet at 9/4 is a 30.8% implied chance.
