Today's best bet is a five-year-old gelding by Sea The Stars, trained by Declan Carroll, and ridden by Zac Wheatley.

Time Tells All makes the relatively short North Yorkshire hop from Malton to contest this 10f, Class 5 handicap with a course and distance score on his CV - just two runs ago, here, in mid-July.

Impressive it was, too - by 3l, off a mark of 62, in Class 6 company. He's up to 68 today, the same as when finishing a close-up third at Pontefract when last seen 17 days ago, in a slightly higher grade than this.

He's in great nick then, acts very successfully around this quirky circuit, and it doesn't look the deepest of contests. Zac can claim 3lb, which is handy, and the horse is in just about the best form of his career in terms of Racing Post Ratings.

He's likely to take a grip in mid-to-rear and come with a sweeping challenge late in the piece, at which point we just might see him put some daylight between himself and the opposition. I like his chances.

Apart from his exalted father he's out of a Dubawi mare too so he's bred to be decent all right. Not perhaps hit the hoped-for heights, but this assignment looks well within compass.
