York Tips: A Noble run expected on Friday

There are eight UK and Ireland race meetings to choose from on Friday, so there is plenty of action to choose from. I like the look of the six-race card on offer at York, and I have picked out three selections that you may want to consider.

17:30 York - Commander Of Life @ 6/1

The card kicks off with this Class 4 handicap over 7f, and there are a whopping 22 runners declared for this one. Experienced jockey Oisin Murphy is booked to ride COMMANDER OF LIFE for Jessica Macey's yard, and this is where my allegiance lies on Friday.

The four-year-old has generally been reliable and his first two successes were on AW but his breakthrough on turf came at Doncaster two weeks ago, beating Riot by 3/4 of a length. He heads two York 2lbs higher than he was for that success and another strong run is expected from him.

It's a stacked field and there are others with strong claims, but with Betfred paying five places, Commander Of Life is certainly one worth considering each-way, particularly with his last four starts being 2241.

19:13 York - Noble Consort @ 11/1

I'm drawn to another race that features 22 runners in the form of this Class 4 handicap over 6f. Again, this is another contest where Betfred are paying five places instead of four, which may play into your thinking.

There are several candidates with decent claims but the one who jumps out at me is NOBLE CONSORT for Julie Camacho's yard. The four-year-old has won four of his last six starts over this trip, three on AW with his latest coming on turf at Doncaster in his latest appearance on June 27.

The ground was good to firm that day and it looks like it will be good to soft at York on Friday, which may ask questions of him. It shouldn't be too much of a hindrance.

He heads here in good form so he is one who has to be respected and I think there could be value in covering him each-way.

EXTRA PLACE RACE - Betfred are paying five places instead of four.

20:23 York - Luna A Inbhir Nis @ 7/2

The card concludes with this Class 4 handicap over 5 12f, and 16 runners are declared for this one - but don't worry as Betfred are also offering five places instead of four on this contest, too.

There are a few notable candidates to consider, one of them being LUNA A INBHIR NIS, trained by Kate Scott. I successfully tipped the three-year-old filly for success on her last showing at Haydock (5f) on July 5, beating Naana's Sparkle by one-and-three-quarter lengths.

She also achieved a hat-trick of victories earlier in the season at Ayr and Musselburgh (twice) over 5f. Luna A Inbhir Nis ran here last month, finishing fifth of 15, also over 5f. She returns in good form after her strong performance at Haydock and is considered a strong contender on Friday.

The only question mark is that she is unproven on slow ground but I still believe she is one to consider.
