Haydock park racecourse

There are eight UK and Irish race meetings on offer across Saturday and for the third time this week, I cast my eye over the action at Haydock Park, with a seven-race card to look forward to

Below you can check out my Haydock Park Tips.

13:30 Haydock Park - Luna A Inbhir Nis @ 13/2

The day's action begins with a Class 4 handicap over the course of 5f and nine runners are down for this one. There are a few who catch the eye but my attention is fixated on LUNA A INBHIR NIS, trained by Katie Scott.

The filly's season has been going well since April, having posted three consecutive victories at Ayr and Musselburgh (twice) over the same distance. The hot streak ended at York three weeks ago but it was still an impressive run from the three-year-old to finish fifth in a field of 15, having started in stall nine.

Another strong performance is expected on her first visit to Haydock and I don't think it will take much for Scott to have her ready to compete in the top placings once again. Luna A Inbhir Nis is in good form and she is a strong contender in my opinion.

15:15 Haydock Park - Sir Lowry's Pass @ 4/1

The fourth race of the afternoon is Class 2 handicap over 1m 4f and this is going to be a real test of stamina for SIR LOWRY'S PASS. The lightly-raced four-year-old posted his second career victory (which have both come at Goodwood) in May as he fought off some late pressure to beat Tony Montana by two lengths.

The colt was the favourite that day and lived up to the billing, but it wasn't to be with the same label on his last appearance at Redcar, also in May. He still posted a respectable third-placed finish, mind, and there were still plenty of positives for his camp to take moving forward.

Trained by Ed Walker, Sir Lowry's Pass has been accustomed to trips of 1m 2f, so connections are eager to see how he handles himself over this slightly longer distance. He certainly has pedigree, and there have been a lot of good performances in the past year, so it's not too surprising to see him listed as the current favourite once again.

I think he will be a major player in this race, but this new test of stamina does leave a question mark.

16:55 Haydock Park - Point Of Contact @ 13/8

Saturday's action concludes with a Class 3 handicap over 7f, with nine three-year-old runners named in the field. There a few worthy candidates for your buck in this one but it's POINT OF CONTACT who I like the look of.

The colt is still in the adolescence of his racing career, with just three outings for Andrew Balding's yard so far. He impressed on his debut at Newbury in a 7f race in July last year to finish third of 16 to show glimpses of his potential.

He returned to the same track in April with a step up to 1m, a challenge which he rose to brilliantly with a victory. Point of Contact's last outing came on his first visit to York where he had a solid second-place finish behind red-hot favourite Bowmark, who won by four lengths.

Balding's rising star has shown he can challenge over longer trips so he is expected to be a strong contender back at this distance, especially as the conditions are looking optimal for him on his first appearance in WA12.
